  RenaultSport 172
Well its been nearly 3 years since I last owned a clio and now I have gone and bought another. This is my third 172 but the first phase 1 :)

Car was owned by a cliosport member in the past as it has the tax disk holder and rear sticker on it.
Bought it as a track day project. Need to tidy up a few things on it. Bought some wet and dry today to try and sort out the headlights.
Took the rear wiper off today as it was just flapping about. Need to get that sorted although might just not have one.

My plans are to strip the rear interior (started today), coilovers, semi slicks, bucket seats and better disks and pads once I wear out whats on it.
Oh and I'd like a nice steering wheel too.
Will be looking out for bargains :)

Thanks for looking
Steve

Yeah don't worry, the stickers will be going. I've heard of GDI but know nothing about them.

Changed the rear lights :)
Wiper removed until new one arrives. and the GDI stickers have gone.
Also removed the rear interior

Definitely needs lowering! But I'll be on the lookout for second hand coilovers. Need to do a bit of research first though as this will be mainly a track car. I want it to handle well.
I am just waiting for delivery of an OMP steering wheel courtesy of Ali Warriner and Demon tweeks will be sending me some OMP buckets seats soon :)

J6 that's just cos I forgot lol

Well thanks for the comments guys! I would love to have kept the standard wheels but it would have cost a lot more as one is pretty buckled and they all could do with a refurb.
I have had turinis and 2118's in the past if that makes any difference lol

But Richy the car is mine not yours. The wheels were a good price and came with track tyres so I'm not bothered if I haven't copied everyone else

Ok so I got some more progress done today :)
Started by stripping out the last couple of seat belts and rear interior trim.

Then I tried to sort out the foggy headlights quickly. Only used the fine wet n dry so I think I'll have to try again with a harsher grade as the improvement wasn't that great. Also done a mega quick bonnet polish

Then finally I changed the steering wheel. The new one is 300mm which seems tiny but much nicer to drive with!

Ok so got some more work done on the car today. Changed the oil for some Mobil 1 10-60w Motorsport stuff. Says its good for high mileage engines and the clio is on 114k now.

Also got the seats fitted. Bit of a hassle getting to the nuts in the exhaust tunnel but this is the third time i've changed seats on a clio so nothing I haven't seen before.
Just got to sort out the wiring and connect up the resistors now. The previous owner had cut and re-soldered most of the connections.

Here's the pics:

The seats are really good and a bit lower than standard, but they are a bit upright for me as I am 6'5 tall. I could do with it going backwards another inch but it will have to do for now. I might consider modifying the subframes in the future.

Cambelt, aux belt and water pump is all being done on Thursday so then I'm good to go :)
First track day is at brands hatch on 14th June
Really looking forward to getting back on there

One final item will be arriving next week, Spax RSX coilovers, thats the final mod for a while, just going to enjoy it on the track before I do anything else.

So yesterdays job was fitting the coilovers. Only got the rears done in the end. Tried doing the fronts today and what a nighmare. Snapped my allen key in half. The nuts just do not want to come off. Messed about for a while but I'm just gonna have to take it to a garage to get sorted.
At least they are all soaked in wd40 now.

So here are pics of yesterdays progress:

Obviously I can't make much of a judgement until the fronts are done but on a quick test drive I'm pleased to say I don't think the rears have ruined the comfort too much. I have them set fairly soft. Will need to play with them a bit on Thursday when I'm at brands hatch. Anyone know good settings to try on these?
Just hope I can find somewhere to change the fronts before Thursday now!
