failed mot

failed mot today due to front coilover springs loose when car was jacked up .
I have GAZ coilovers fitted and don't have my car droped very much around 35mm but it looks like i will have to rise it to put pressure on the springs.

has anyone else had any experience like this ?

Errrmm? The lower it is the more pressure there would be on the springs... :s

So when you jack a car up (like you do on an MOT) the car is still lower?

is it common for the spring to be loose when the car is raised off the ground?
if i lower the car in the future will it be a case of having to raise it for mot each year?

Sounds like your shocks need a refurb, i never experienced what your describing with my/Daniels Gaz setup

if the cars still sitting near o/e height on the coilovers then you should have helpers in there, otherwide the distance from spring platform to top cap on full shock piston extension will be bigger than the height of the uncompressed spring, hence its loose

so other option is to wind the coilovers down (in ride height) until the springs are tight when the cars jacked up, ten minute job provided they arent seized
