Jekyll's RB182 Progress Thread

From what ive read & heard they are great in the dry but not in the wet as more of a summer tyre so need heat in them, great looking tyre tho!.im thinkng of getting some next summer or GoodYear's ASY
Just wanted to add to this... I ran AD08R's all last winter and they were absolutely fine.
I left them on because I was too lazy to change to the 'winter set up' of continental CS2's! But no issues and I just drove normally and didn't nanny about either (Y)

Looks a tad different now.

Had the power steering pump replaced on saturday along with a new AUX belt kit fitted by my good friend Alex @ Engine Dynamics. This one is a genuine one as the old one was a pattern part. Turns out the old one not only whined (which was the original reason why it was being changed) but was previously ill fitted, having the incorrect pulley depth corrected by some washers superglued together and a overall bad job. Now its back to how it should be with no corners cut. What a hero Alex is

Its going back to he's in a few weeks to have a clutch change, driveshafts fitted, new thermostat fitted and i might even do the oil change then too.

Only pics ive got of the work unfortunately but you can see the pulley is off, etc.

Tried cleaning up the sabelt wheel too as it was very manky!

Tbh its the best i could do but i've spoken to @snappy and its booked in for a retrim in a few weeks as he wants to finish he's current stock he has. The retrim will have black perforated leather all round and have a blue alcantara strip on top. I did think about mixing it up with perforated leather on the sides and normal leather on the bottom but i think it will look like too much is going on and i think the all perforated leather will look better than the all plain leather.

"the incorrect pulley depth corrected by some washers superglued together"

:eek:penmouth::eek:penmouth:

That's awesome getting that spotted and corrected, good stuff!

Wheel looks much improved too, when the re-trim happens I think your right, less is more....... would be a bit 'busy' otherwise

Bit of an update.

The car will be going to Alex's in the next week to have the clutch and drivers driveshaft changed. While this will be done, ive ordered a new thermostat and PAS switch, along with some genuine handbrake cables and a oil filer service kit. I went for genuine cables as i've read that some pattern ones are slightly the wrong size. The pair came to £54 which i thought was pretty cheap and i went for the genuine filter and elf oil as the service kit was only £32 for filter, washer and 6 litres of oil, which once again, i thought was pretty good.

The cables and service kit arrived very quickly. Alex has ordered the other parts so they will arrive at he's place.

I took the back roads one day to work as it was cold and there was a lot of frost about and i thought it would take a decent shot or 2. Car was filthy but i thought they looked quite good.

While the wheels were off i checked to see if the coilover covers were working. They seem to be doing there job nicely as the coilovers are in the same condition from when the covers was first fitted and its been pretty manky weather for some time now

I cleaned up the headlights again with some 3M finesse and a guy at works machine polisher. First time using one so it was only a quick buff but they looked better, even though they wasn't that bad to begin with. It was more of a "lets give this a go" type thing.

Looking great for this time of year!

I want new headlights after looking at those, my car amplifies any deterioration being white, they can easily look yellow-ish without looking after them :(

I see your oil change looks cleaner this time around ;)

Looks great as always and far cleaner than it should be at this time of year  are you running AD08R tyres? Are you planning on running all winter? I have them on mine and wondered if I would have been wiser to swap them out over winter and put them back on when it warms up, having said that all good so far on them!

Have you lowered it on the back a touch? Looks a bit lower.

They can be had for cheap now, some even more so if they need a buff over.

Will probably do another change in april so this will do for now.

This is getting to be a really awesome RB

Thanks Ant. Not sure where its going really, im just tinkering i guess. Mostly i want it mechanically sound with a few mods and personal touches. Not bothered about minting it as im using it daily doing 40 miles a day and its now on 112k with a few scuffs.

Looks great. almost as good as mine, your getting there though.
+1 for using lyrics from the stranglers.
i notice these things.

Great minds think alike, always (the sun)

Yes i will be running the AD08R's all over winter. Cant be arsed to swap over. Theyll be fine, nothing to worry about. Plus its extra cost that isnt needed IMO.

I have those tyres, gonna hero it tbh

Because Racecardriver?

Love this car, the headlights look great, your bay needs a clean tho, you battery looks like my ass crack!

Fucked? Cummy? Manky?

I didnt know batterys weeped puss like that.

Its not puss.....

If your on about the last pic, then i have a boot of tools in so it may look lower. All the other pics have nothing in.

However i sometimes think about removing the adjusters as in some pics it looks high, but i will leave it for now.

Looks fantastic, especially for a 100k+ car used everyday. Really like the photos in the frost too. Still my favourite Clio on here tbh!

It's a real credit to you keeping it like that in winter doing 40 miles a day! Highlights my laziness.

Yeah but your dedicated to getting the dirty award now!

Glad to see the shock socks seem to be doing their job well! I think I'll order the same ones for my new coilovers. Was it an eBay jobbie?

Yes it was buddy, although you can buy it from the Motamec website also. Here is the ebay link:

Thanks very much mate. Link is above my friend. They do 3 different sizes though. 330mm, 406mm and 485mm, so it might be worth checking before you order. I have 406mm.

Ah that explains it then, it was the last pic.

Yeh I'd leave it personally, I'll be putting my adjusters back in when I go down to 15's I think.

Haha! No probs Toby!

Haven't done much to the car recently. Hasnt had the work done at Alex's yet, but with all going well, it will be done in the next few weekends

Got a new camera (Nikon d3300) so ive just been snapping away and trying to learn along the way. Hers a few recent pics:

And my personal favourite:

32190627525_144a08a7d0_z.jpg

Car has developed a creaking on very slow turns on right hand down steering. I also have developed a bearing whirring noise up front and lastly the tracking seems to be out so i decided to buy 2x genuine bearings after reading numerous threads about getting genuine bearings over pattern ones. A few messages to Paul Templeton @renaultpartsdirect and a pair of bearings were ordered and delivered promptly as always

32590412795_008069fe1b_z.jpg

Seen as the alignment needs to be done again, i thought it would make sense to change both bearings for piece of mind. While all the hubs will be off, i will remove the coilovers and top mounts and regrease everything all up and check everything to make sure its all hunky dorey before the alignment gets done.

At this point it will have had:
New genuine front bearings
New track rod ends
New genuine track rod inners
New ball joints
1k old Bilstein B14's
And i believe its had new steering rack and ARB bushes last year by the previous owner.

I may paint the front calipers and hubs while its all off and clean the arches but will see how i get on. Will look into making a bracket to hide the carbon cannister lid also. I will update in due time.
