Dent! Is it worth attempting by myself?

  RS 197
I Have seen loads of these videos online of people fixing dents themselves using sucking tools and things like that. Was just wondering whether anyone has successfully fixed a dent on their car themselves? And also whether it's worth me having a go to fix my dent myself or paying for a dent man to sort it. (see picture below) . Also if anyone has any idea on how much this would cost it would be great! :mask:

You won't sort that yourself on your driveway - you need a specialist.

It's in an odd place, so i'm not sure if you'll be able to have it repaired paintless or not.

I had something similar on an old car of mine. I got it 80% out and left it at that, but that car wasn't very new.

I think if you want it 100% get a specialist dent removal to do it (that's if they can).

I had a dent in the exact same place - my bosses mother popped in to the office, left her car door open as she popped in and the wind took it in to my car.

ChipsAway managed to sort it (perfectly, despite their hit & miss reputation) for the grand sum of £70 notes.

It's on a line/crease, the worst ones to repair...

I'd ask if a specialist could get it perfect and price it.. If they can't promise perfection without painting the car, I'd push it out myself and keep my money..

I may be wrong, but I'd suggest you leave it alone and get a dent guy out as attempting it yourself could make it worse/harder to sort.

Difficult to do yourself because of the swage line. Glue stick type dent puller wouldn't pull that out for sure.

Thanks for all the quick replies! Think I'm going to call up chips away see what they quote and whether they reckon they can get it perfect. Just annoying cos it's not a massive dent it's just in the wrong place :weary:

It may well be cheaper to go straight to a recommended dent guy. I work next door to the main Chips Away and they just outsource it, so they must be making a cut on top.

So I spoke to numerous company's and only 1 said they can do it but it would only be 95% fixed and cost £160. Chips away said it would cost roughly £350 as it would need panel beating, filling and spraying. But that would be 100% repaired obviously. Still waiting to hear back from local body shop.

So I'm still not getting any closer to making up my mind on what to do :weary:

I could trust myself to push it out a little without making it worse.. Id get it 70% the way there and be happy not to bother fixing further.. For now..

Same as typhoon, I paid near enough £70 for mine to be sorted. They are having your pants down for £350!
