yes i know ive totally blown (doubled) what you were gonna spend... but read the reviews on the 18-200 vr. itll never be off your camera.
also the d80 is a s**t load better than the d40x/d60

AF motor for one...
does the d60 have AEB? i know the d40x didnt.
the d80 has that.
top LCD, is a big reason, so much better imo. must be better for battery life too. but its good that you can take your eye from the eyepiece and dont have to move the camera miles from your eye to see the massive numbers on the back.

oh and since your spending £800, get the nifty 50 aswell.....

ye i know its a lot, but i presume you'd want something like the 55-200 aswell with a d60, for longer zooms, say, i dunno £200. that brings you to £600ish.

but your getting an amazing lens (seriously wish it was a canon lens) which you wont have to swap, with VR, and its a nikkor rather than a sigma or whatever.

you know it makes sence

D40 with kit lens is £100 cheaper, then get the 55-200 VR for £130 and you have a great package that wiill take just as good pics as the D60. Thats just my opinion anyway!!
