clutch pedal floppy

hi all,

when i go to my car in a morning the clutch pedal is floppy and after pumping it a couple of times, it stiffens up and acts normal. when driving along, there is a small amount of play with the pedal before it stiffens to press. clio 182 2004

iv got a feeling its the clutch cable needing to be replaced

i now think its the auto adjust ratchet !! where can i get one from ? how easy are they to fit

There should be a small amount of play before going stiff. Its so you can rest your foot on it without engaging.

it drops to the floor so easy almost like nothings there and when you let off it clicks to the top then is normal again

only does it if you leave the car a few hours or over nice its like the auto thing just resets it self
