Clio Sport Air Condensor

  Clio RenaultSport
Hi,

So the air con had not been working for a while and finally got around to taking it in to get seen to. Halfords were offering a discount on air con re-charging so took it in. They recharged it but this only lasted a day. Took it back they said it was most likely a seal needed replacing, they did that which worked for a day again. They ran some UV dye through it and sure enough the result was the consendor was leaking in 2 places, and they said they were unable to fix. (needed a specialist) Apparently its difficult job as they whole front bumper needs taking off.

Renault has just quoted me £478!! - My question is and why I am here is to ask if anyone has also had this issue and did they get it fixed and for how much? - £500 is a bit steep to get cool air going for now. - I live in Essex and will look around for some spares on the Internet and hopefully find somewhere cheaper to get this replaced.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

FLOL.

This is simples.

Get into the thread, "66k breaking ph2 172" by Tunst. (or use Cliospares or similar)

Buy his aircon condenser in there for about £30, take the front bumper off, undo a couple of 10/13 mm bolts, fit the new condenser, take back to halfords and have it re-gassed.

Fixed.

Just back from renault and had mine checked out - dye is runnging out from what looks like stone damage on the bottom left-hand corner of the grill :dead:

Quoted £427 fix for condenser, 2hrs labour and regas
- I nearly died I gave them £162 about 2 months ago to replace seals and regas it and all was well until it leaked again lol

Would this be about right?

As I said above, it's piss easy to change yourself.

If there's a hole in the system, there'll be no gas in there, so you can just take it off without worrying.

Seriously, just take two or three hours on a saturday and you'll have it done with basic knowledge and tools.

I had your problem late last year, kwik fit did it for me for £125 but the RRP was £225 only cause i got it cheap but the bumper does not need to come off, I saw the work being done and people slate kwik fit but they did a cracking job on mine ! :p
