Mounting is simple enough, drops right in on a standard 172 top mount and a Mk1 gearbox mount. Only need to really fabricate a downpipe from the 172 manifold to join your exhaust. Wiring and ECU is another story. I ran adjustable coilovers, cage tied into the strut tops, 172 hubs/brakes/wishbones on the front, 182 Trophy ARB, and so on..Heres 5241 posts to get you going...

You can use everything from a phase 1 172, subframe, brakes ect...
Even using the whole wiring from the 172, just change the wiring plugs on the lights to suit the mk1.
No need to get the immobiliser removed from the ecu then.

The subframe from any 172 will not fit a Mk1 Clio.

Could you not use the phase 2 parts a thought they were the same

You could, but you'd have to mount the ph2 throttle pedal too, as its fly by wire.

Any 172/182 bare engine can be used, but ideally you want a Ph1 inlet manifold, loom and ECU. Ph1 has a cable throttle, so straight onto the Mk1 pedal. The engine wiring is less than 10 wires. Cut the white connector off the 172 loom, and use the connector from the Mk1 loom. Match up the wires and you have a plug and play loom with the Mk1 then. Easy enough to just get the immobiliser removed from the ECU by a specialist. Used to have the kit to do it, but don't anymore. I could go on about it for a good while, but its all in the thread.
