Camera confusion?

What makes the new Canon G10 powershot so expensive, is it worth getting a DSLR instead for this price range of camera.

Looks like a bridge camera, I'd personally go for a DSLR over one.

I'd love one. Got all the functions of a DSLR but it's compact. Can take pictures everywhere where you feel a idiot whipping out a DSLR.

Very good if its like the older G9

lovely retro style........ nearly got this myself but the mega zoom of the panasonic won it

Had a G9 and got bored after a week! Very limited IMO, moved on to an SLR very quickly and don't feel like an idiot when using it??! I found the G9 very limited, shocking in low light, lots of noise at higher ISO, limited zoom, lack of decent DOF, poor flash (although you can buy speedlights, but would make it look a bit silly!)

Thats just my feelings towards it!!
