Bonnet won't open Ph1

So went to open my bonnet earlier, heard a faint click and the cable now feels slack ie no resistence on the pull handle. Think I can hear the cable when I pull it but won't release. Tried pulling with my mate pushing n pulling at the bonnet? If it's broken at say the release catch end then how much of a sh!t time am I looking at the get it open?

Have you tried lifting bonnet while someone pulls cable pull?

Done mine two weeks ago but on a ph2. The only way for is was to remove the front bumper. My catch was seized solid.

Seach/ google and plenty of threads turn up which you'll find more helpful.
