Blackbox Insurance with Modified Wheels

  Clio 2, 1.2 16V
Hi, anyone know where i can get cheap blackbox insurance with aftermarket alloys.

I mention this because they come to fit the black box and check the car over.

InsureTheBox don't support mods at all.

f**k having a blackbox.

How much does it drop prices by?

By £800, best quote without a blackbox is 3800 for TPF&T, with a blackbox, the best is £3000 for 8K miles and night driving restrictions, lower excess and fully comp. Even lower if i drop the milage.

But i need to find a new set of stock alloys for this car :(

I need to share the car with my sister who is also passing at the same time as me, so it isn't easy

F@ck that off for a start.

I have my car so that I can go where I want when I want, not to be told what to do and when.

Mental. Glad I started driving a few years ago, the prices are crazy now! (under £600 for my mx5 this year :D)

I have a blackbox and I pay £976 and I'm 17. I'm only doing it for the first year and I'm glad in a way as most people I used to go to school with are paying £4000+ and have crashed. I'm less likely to crash with the blackbox. Also the night thing doesn't bother me as it stops me drink driving as I'm a heavy drinker

Are you in the habit of taking your car to the pub? Even without a black box you should know to get a taxi/lift home from the pub.

I live in the middle of no where therefore I have to drive to get to the pub then I leave my car there, depending on the time

I agree with that too. Don't they monitor you're speed to?

I wonder what the insurance company would say of you wanted to declare a turbo. You can, but only on low boost..

Lol less likely to crash with a black box?? does it drive the car for you then??

And in response to the post take the alloys off and once they have fitted it put them back on ;) IMO

Ive got a co-op blackbox on my 1.2 lol, it aint too bad tbh, Ive payed £900 for the year & if i drive 'safe' they give me money back every 90 days (around £100) which will bring it down to £600 at the end off the year if i drive ok, im 18 & can do 18,000-20,000 miles a year, also i put down i 'often' for late night driving (between 11PM-6AM) so i can drive at whatever times i like without it effecting my insurance, also the more you value your car at the less insurance you pay, weird but it works :) i drive at around 35-40mph on 30 roads without realising and it doesnt make a difference. its alright but if you cant insure anything over a 1.9ltr.

Then have no insurance when you crash and then you've spent all that money on nothing?

Its a shame that i can't afford this car with modifications, it really looked nice. If i can't comprehensively insure it, i'll probably get a very cheap clio with lots of miles on the clock and insure it 3rd party only with some random company for the no claims, and consider upgrading later.

Thanks anyway guys

There must and will be specialists who will insure you at less than 3.8k without spying on you.

Try Sky on here and if they don't specialise in your age group, they'll be able to tell you who will.

Also add your Dad and/or Mum onto your policy. My good lady made two claims at the same time 18 months ago when she was 24 totalling about 10k. Adding a 29 year old man knocks £500 off her premium.

Parents have automatic licenses :(

Is it even possible to do that? i know the automatic acts as a provisional manual license but won't the insurance actually go up if i do that?

Flol! Did you really just suggest going with a company that has charged you £3k to insure a Clio!?

Any mods on that car? wheels, tints?

I can't believe the mental prices people are paying for insurance now. Mine has never been above £1000 in the 4 years I've been driving and I'm now insuring a 1.8 for £500.
