Thanks for mailing me the link to this thread Lou - I don't come on here anymore as I don't own a Clio.
Mally, this was my old Clio. All work that was done on the car had receipts which was given to the seller at the time of sale of the car. During my ownership of this car I can honestly say that I have never clipped any kerbs while driving it - at the time of selling the car the alloys were in almost perfect condition with no kerbing at all. Even when parking I always made sure I was miles away from the kerbs.
The only things I can think of wheels related are:
1) after the car was serviced at Renault I was told it needed a new wheel bearing. Djw John was able to source an OEM one (helping me avoid the Renault inflated prices!) and I took it to my local garage for fitting. Upon stripping everything down it turned out that the wheel bearing was the wrong one, the mechanic also said that there was no issue with the current wheel bearing anyway and it was rebuilt to the way it already was.
2) a couple of punctures that were repaired and 3 replaced tyres over the year. Standard wear and tear to be honest.
There are deffo no secrets with this car. As Dave says, it rarely broke a sweat as it never got over 50mph on my journey to work due to speed limits and volume of traffic. All in all I'd say it's had a very easy life..........apart from the time I parked it head on at a higher than normal kerb and broke the front splitter. :-(
