best primer colour?

What is the best colour primer to use on alloys when changing from silver to anthracite?
It is not the darkest of greys so was thinking of a white primer as a grey primer might dull the final finish.
Interested in peoples thoughts and advice.

white or grey, doesn't really matter when doing metallic greys

Any primer would be fine for a dark metallic.

It's best to put a dark primer on as close to the metallic colour as possible. If you scratch them or chip them then hard to see with a dark primer underneath. If you have a white/ light grey primer underneath it will stick out like a sore thumb
