Visited my car this morning and it is indeed a sorry looking sight
the quote from the garage has now gone up to £1700
here is a list of parts ordered it may be useful as a guide to anyone else having the same problem (its a long one lol)

They are hoping i will have it back before Easter. Its a lot of money but i dont really have much of a choice.Apparently the alt belt mod kit will stop this kind of thing happening again.
Is there anything missing from the list? if there is anything else thats needed i may as well raid my piggy bank and go the whole hog!

new bearings and springs to fit to the old pivot. perfectly acceptable if the pivot is stripped, cleaned and lubed tbh. Bet is wasn't though.

Charged hours should be more like 10

3 of those hours included stripping it down, does that sound about right?

Happend to me had to get a new head! Guy who had the cam belt fitted never got the aux belt fitted aswell TIT! Anyway mine was sorted in all it cost £900

i'd personally prefer a rebuilt head, but i'd have got it all done for not much over a grand by a very rough in my head calculation. Just personal prefernce really, I like fixing rather than just throwing repairable engines away

some very expensive parts there, someone is selling a complete head for £100 in the for sale section, would save you a fortune!

find an engine of head/parts and rebuild or send to one of the many specialists offering services on CS.

when/if i blow the megane, i'll just trailer it to BTM and pay a fraction of what renault 'experts' will offer
