Alternator + WD40 help

  Renault Clio MK2 1.2
My alternator makes a not-so-nice noise, sounds like it's crunching/creaking/rubbing somewhere. Done some searching on here and came to the conclusion that some WD40 may help resolve this.

Where can I spray WD40? Is it on the belt? The alternator itself? The coils inside? Bolts all around there?

Probably a noob question but dont want to mess things up....

Cheers!

No. Just no. If it's a bearing, wd40 will make it worse. If it's the belt, wd40 will make it worse. Find the problem and fix it properly.
oops! my searching skills need brushing up. Just looked through all the paperwork and looks like it's due for a new AUX belt very soon. Will get it booked in!
