I think something is up with mine and Id like to know what I'm missing...lol.

Bit of ally to stop water going in it (cos of my itbs)

the tensioner thing that pokes out towards you,
is that just a washer and a bolt ontop of it mate?

Its a flanged nut.

Ah I see, mine had no nut on it whatsoever....
Bloody thing, wondered why it squeaked.
Put a normal nut with a Nyloc nut ontop.

Do you guys think this will be sufficient?

should be fine. it's the tensioner adjuster, just make sure you undo ALL the alternator bolts before adjusting, else you WILL snap the adjuster. (i know i did it!)
