Alarm not working

Hi, I hope someone can assist? The alarm on my 182 isn't working for some reason? I lock the door and the red light on the dash and near the gear lever is flashing but I'm unable to get the alarm going off..is there anything I can check? Has it been deactivated some how? Any advice would be great, thanks.

Try unlocking the passenger door with the key blade and getting in. Shouldn’t disarm the alarm and it should go off. If not, alarm issues are common, perhaps the siren was cut out?

Thanks @hopgop1, yeah tried that and just a long beep until I close the door. Strange!
