Aftermarket wheel. Used resistors. SERV & A/bag light still on.

As title, I've just fitted an aftermarket steering wheel. I've used the 3.3 OHM resistors in the 2 connector blocks to eliminate the airbag lights but they still come on. I've doubled them over for better contact but no joy.

Any ideas chaps?

I take it the light was off before? Maplin code M3R3? Tried checking plugs under seats?

Yes that resistor and have never had the lights on before. Didn't do anything to the seat except move it slightly forward to get a mat out the back to kneel on.
What if I undo the battery terminal again and reconnect? Do anything?

Once the light is on its on for good until you can reset it with a Clip System or the like. The best thing to do is just delete the light in the Clip system. No need for resistors then.

So take to Renault and get them to delete the code? (I've got a renault dealer in my group I've got a good relationship with so no issue getting them to do it.)

With the Clip system you can Permanently delete the light so i doesn't ever come back on. Not sure Renault would like doing it but it is possible. @Mike@Rentech has done mine in the past Mike.

I've always had mixed results using the resistors tbh, I also need someone with Clip to get rid of mine, bloody MOT's eh! :)

I can do nearly all of them with the clip, but I have never worked out how to get around the configuration error you sometimes get from certain models of airbag computers.
I'm sure if your airbag light is blanked out it's a pass and advise on the mot anyway.

Glad i read this as i was going to try and fix this sometime this week. Do you think Renault might refuse to delete the light? Is there any independants with CLIP near Oxford.

resistors worked on mine, had to triple fold them at the end to make sure they made contact properly though
That's where my issue has been. I didn't double over and even though I have now, the light will remain.

This light remains on is a myth. Was fidling with mine yesterday and managed to get both serv/airbag light off. I just turned my battery off for ages, triple folded the resistors using pliers.

Interesting. I'll try this.

As Chris mentioned, I'll have to take to Renault and get them to remove it with Clip with any luck.

Take it to one of the specialists off here who has CLIP. A Renault main dealer won't code out your airbag encase there is any comeback on them.

Can you elaborate on what triple folding is?

Folding the wire either side of the resistor over so it fits in the hole without an slop.

Fold the resistor wire three times either end so its thicker (and shorter)

Or as @1812lsd said.

You can get away with a single/double fold if you leave a loop at the end but it's loser and probably wont make contact properly.
Ah right, I was soldering so probably dont need to worry about this. cheers mate.
