I've not long been back from a business trip to the UAE. Good timing really, as I was getting sick of the chaos this snow is causing - so it's a bit warmer over there! 
I was there for 4 days, the first few I couldnt really go out much due to work, but I managed to get a few snaps around Abu Dhabi one afternoon.
The last day turned into a bit of a disaster as I got an email in the afternoon to say my return flight (which was due at 02:35 the next morning) had been cancelled!
Luckily there was another flight at the same time departing from Dubai. So the agents who 'represent' us in the UAE kindly took me sort of sight seeing in the evening, before we drove to Dubai!
Disclaimer: I can only just about travel with my D3, so I had no tripod or any other gear, these are not proper photographs, just 'touristy' snapshots, but Im pretty pleased with how they came out

The main place I got taken to was the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque. This place is utterly breathtaking, I think I can safely say that is it is the most impressive piece of architecture I have ever seen. I could have spent all day taking photos there!

16. Quite like this as an abstract kind of shot.
After that it was time to leave for Dubai. The traffic in Abu Dhabi is always a nightmare so it took a while to even get out of the city!
Oh....on the way to Dubai, as a motorsport fan, I had to stop of here:
17. Shame we couldn't get a few laps in
Near Dubai we also stopped off at the palm tree island. We drove up the 'spine' of the tree all the way to the end, where there is the Atlantis Hotel - what a building!!

By this time it was time to get to the airport, unfortunately there was one more building I would have liked to have seen a bit closer, but this was the best view I had of it:

Not the best photo in the world, but it was shot from a moving car through the windscreen at ISO5000! Never the less, I think you get the idea of the scale that is the tallest building in the world - the Burj Khalifa.
Not a bad trip really
Tomorrow morning I'm off to Saudi Arabia again, hopefully I can get some good shots there too
