Unsure what happened, all i know is that the new owner only had it a few weeks. Was told it was a write off!

Always jump to conclusions about things like this and assume the new owner crashed it through fault of their own.... Could have been a non-fault accident or being cinical could say that being a new car he didn't know the limits and drove beyond them and ended up crashing.
