10.5.8 - 10.6.8 + app store??

Right, i bought a mac book pro, a second hand hand one running 10.5.8, it came with the snow leopard disc which is 10.6.8 however i want to install a program which says i need to download from the app store which my mac hasnt got, so it directs me to the apple site to download a newer version of itunes, but it says i need at least os 10.6.8 i was going to install the leopard but this is only 10.6 so my question is how do i get to 10.6.8 and will i then have the app store on my mac ??

im new to the mac.
spec is

2.4 intel core 2 duo
4b ram

Install 10.6 then run updater and the combo update should take it to 10.6.8.

Software update will locate the latest combo after you install 10.6
