Aye mine stayed the same with greenlight as well (£450).

Strangely the bike was pretty cheap to insure at only £390 which i didn’t think was bad given i’m a new rider and its a 1340cc🤷🏻‍♂️

On renewal last year mine went from 300ish to 1400! on a standard car. Got a modified policy through Brentacre for around 450, though I had to modify it to keep the policy open.....

Is this thread about the "renewal" price, as in the completely made up number you get sent just before your policy ends to take advantage of lazy people, or how much you've actually paid more than the previous year?

My made up renewal price was a 100% increase, my actual renewal was give or take a few quid exactly the same as last year

Esure last week, can't complain at that considering everybody else's seems to be skyrocketing

The last two estimates I sent to esure in the last 7 days were 5 figures. Someone is going to pay eventually. It's becoming insane.

Man has realised he can charge whatever labour rate he wants as its just accepted and passed on to the customer anyway

Just did a compare the meerkat, and mine are coming out about £60 less, so interested to see what it's like come renewal in April.

My insurance renewal came through in December and they stated that they were unable to offer me insurance (DirectLine). I assume it could be due to the age of the car (R26 Megane) but they never mentioned why. I was pretty miffed as (I thought) it was cheap but actually forced me to shop around and went on a comparison website and it ended up being actually cheaper even still. (Aviva)

It'd be nice if these insurance companies repaid loyalty instead of shafting the loyal customers.

Very similar toy quote from Churchill.
They said they couldn't price match, told them they were £50 cheaper online, oh yeah we can prove match that but not Aviva who were £222.

"Guess I'll go with them then."

"Yes, probably best. You're not on auto renewal so it'll just lapse"

Didn't even try to keep my custom.

Another legally required and completely unregulated industry. Utter bullshit.
This.

I always buy the cheapest nastiest shittest policy I can find, just to stay legal and nothing more.

They are absolute bandits and will gladly take our money but when we need them they just bend us over and go in dry. f**k ‘em.

My insurance is up for renewal end of next month. Broker quoting me £100 less than last year. Bosh.

The bit that gets me, is some 17 year old saves up and buys their own car, they think about it thoroughly, have money got on insurance etc.

They go to their retail job and study hard, they get to year 2 and suddenly their hilarious insurance goes up by 50% for absolutely no discernible reason and absolutely because of nothing they’ve done… and they can’t afford it anymore. But it’s legally required. How is that even allowed?

Sadly, because teenagers continue to be the cause of a majority of accidents. And insurance claims cost a sickening amount now.

Gone are the days of Timmy smacking his £500 106 into Alan’s £5k Mondeo and both owners getting second hand bumpers sprayed up and out the door within a week, now Timmy drives a brand spanking new 308 that the bank owns, Alan is now in a BMW 325 that again the bank owns, the bank wants a bang up job with OEM parts, meaning huge cost for all new parts, which post Covid are rare as rocking horse s**t (so even more expensive) and take months to arrive meaning both Timmy and Alan are driving around in £40 a day hire cars for three months.

One of my colleagues put a 50p sized hole in the a-pillar of his 2 year old financed Focus. I told him he’d be looking for a new car. He laughed. He now has a Vignace one. Bank say car go in bin.

At £100/h the cars will be being written off for the smallest of things.
Cat S will mean nothing any more

We sold a VW sharan to a guy yesterday that had exactly this.
Bin lorry went down the side of his 2018 Sharan and damaged 2 doors. No other damage. Our Bodyshop place would have charged £800/1000 to fix it no bother.
But because it’s insurance and they need brand new parts the doors had to come from Germany. But they’re on back order. So 3 months of £70 a day hire car meant his car got written off for the most pathetic damage.

Good for us though, we sold a car. Bosh.

Just had my renewal from Adrian Flux for just my 172. Nearly a grand they want :ROFLMAO:

This is for a car that does no more than 1000 miles a year, insured for up to 3000 miles. But because last year I had the Megane there and it was insured to do 7000 miles they've now just assumed the Clio will be doing that mileage

Useless c***s

But JLR charge £200 an hour and have been £100+ for over a decade, doesn't make sense.

Would also add, used car prices are up which means that magic number rises also, more repairs, mo money...

A spokesman from the 'Insurance Industry' on the radio yesterday said the same thing. Basically parts and labour have all gone up because of inflation, and secondly a shortage of car parts means long supply chain lines and long car hires. Throw in the complexity of parts like bumpers with their sensors/cameras/lights whatever and I can see why the price of insurance is so high.

My neighbour had a dealer's hire car for over a month last year awaiting a software update, I assume it also needed a a bit of hardware too !

I'm going to need some more information on that one ginge. Sounds like fairytales.
