Low revs Misfire issues

Afternoon all,

So long story short since buying this 182 I've had a misfire problem non stop. Cant remember having it when I bought the car, but once I had the dephaser job done (which was only a week or so later), we noticed the timing was out, so Rayo (Phil at grange service station in Cardiff) set that back to standard etc. As far as I can remember since then there has been a misfire - destructive misfire code, think it was injector 2 (this was about a year ago now) - so we changed all the injectors, spark plugs, leads, coil packs sensors etc etc. Changed a couple more injectors as they were faulty and the car started running fine - whilst idling it would start to misfire etc but then once moving that problem seemed to disappear? (strange I know) anyway. Car has been running smoothly now for a few months (exception to this idle misfire). We can figure out what the issue is? Possible map/timing issue? Knackered engine and just plonk a fresh one in?

Aaaaaanyway.... that's just the background... the issue is here..

Saturday morning I took it out for a run, just down to the shops and back, all okay. Then the misses (no pictures on me as I'm NOT in work....) and I were heading off in the evening to a friends. We get 100 yards down the road and out of nowhere all power etc just disappears, revs dropped to around 500 and putting the pedal to the flow did nothing.. we rolled for a bit and I pulled over. Turned the car off and on again (because that's how you fix a computer problem) and the car started fine, 5 seconds in and the revs dropped back down to around 500 (it normally idles at 900 ish). So deciding that this is not looking good I turn the car around to try and get it on the drive, but the combination of extremely low revs (don't pick up when the pedal was planted) and the slight incline of the road meant it wouldn't make it as as such has been parked up where it was.

Any insights/suggestions would be appreciated.
Please keep trolling to a minimum... salty subject seeing as I've put about 2000 miles on it since owning it for 3 years...
Love ya'll

Pre cat lambda?

Please excuse my naivety - I THINK its got a de-cat. Having said that I'm sure a changed a lambda sensor - do de-cats only have 1 sensor? (sorry im not mechanically minded at all!

I plan on getting it to the garage this week when I have a chance - swamped at work to makes it difficult to get the time to get it there.

The pre-cat is before the cat or decat. It's in the exhaust manifold and it affects the fueling and the way the car runs.

Some Clios eat them for fun.

The lambda sensor after the cat or decat is only there to bring up the emissions light, so it doesn't affect the running of the car.

Ok thanks! Great explanation :) I'll mention it and see what Phil says (assume it must be the one we changed before).

TDC sensor is on the gearbox side, just above the gearbox in the side of the block.
When they fail completely, the car has starting issues, but when they're on the blink they can give issues that are similar to this.
Awesome(that you've explained it not that it could be on its way out... haha ), thanks so much for the insight :)

There is a free way to test the TDC sensor. If you have the car running and then jiggle the wire for it and it cuts out or something happens then you know thats the problem. If not its probably alright. Renault did change the design with a new type of plug so you can check if it has that.

Heya, did you ever get to the bottom of this? I'm having similar issues with my 182
Yeah! Turns out is was injectors all along, bought a second hand set from a running clio with the rail, as @Chris_Beer eludes to, there are a number of threads already, a few suggest using a certain brand (I can't remember which one) but make sure you get that brand, I was putting the top end GSF injectors in and it just didn't like them!
