This light used to come on, on my wifes old 1.2. Found out that the earth strap from them gear box to the body was breaking. As it snapped one day and wouldnt start. Light never came back on ever since i fitted a new strap. Worth looking at.

I had this for months. Replaced aload of stuff. In the end i got someone to rev it for me while on the ramp. Found that one of the springs on the manifold to cat joint on the exhaust had snapped. And the bolt was just hanging down rattling on the exhaust.

I replaced the cam belt and dephaser pulley at the weekend.as the pulley was rattling like crazy. And the noise has gone. for anyone else with this problem.

Check the spark plugs are tight. Mine have come loose a couple of times even at the correct torque. And makes that sound when they are loose. also seen it on a few other cars, where it sounds alot more serious then that.
