Just incase any of you are interested,I queried the difficulty and here is his response:
"The design of the original diff makes it a very complicated job to get our internal design to fit within the size limit".
A bit more research:
At http://www.racecar.co.uk/gripper/apps.htmhttp://www.racecar.co.uk/gripper they sell a gripper LSD for £820!!!
But this type of differential is not suitable for everyday driving!!
The response from Quaife, ( took about 20 mins! )
Dear Sir,
Thank you for your enquiry.
Unfortunately, we have looked at this differential before and it was decided it would not be possible for us manufacture this unit. Does the new
Clio run on the same gearbox? If you would like us to...
Unfortunately Quaife don’t sell an ATB diff for any Clio! but I have sent them an email regarding their future plans.
I managed to get the ATB for the 205 cheap as they sponsor my mate’s 205-challenge car. If Quaifes response is possitive I will ask if he can get a couple of units at a...
Try Quaife.
The ATB diff is amazing, especially on over powered front wheel drive cars, pulls the front end around beautifuly.
I would definately get one if i was to modify the Williams, i have one on my 205 and it is brilliant.
I managed to get one for £350 new, but they are around £500 new.
Thanks for the replies.
Are you suggesting taking the engine out from the top, and the gearbox from the bottom?
I have done several engine conversions on 205s, so i have all of the necessary equipment, they are really easy to work on. Where as the Williams, is the opposite, the engine bay is...
Whats the easiest way to change the gearbox on a Williams??
And how long will it take?
Option1 - Remove bonnet, inlet and pipework, engine mount, driveshafts and then take the gearbox out of the top.
Option2- Remove lower subframe, driveshafts and drop the gearbox out of the bottom.
Thanks.
His reserve is set at £1600.
I emailed him and he replied " I will break the car if the bids do not reach the reserve".
I know its difficult to tell, but what do you think is a realistic price for the car, with respect to breaking??
