Flol! Oh noes brand new phone outsells year old phone!

f**k off! Seriously! That's not even an article! I'd fire him on that sentence alone. Clown!

I would have said the same if it wasn't Apple. Oh Steve is turning in his grave? f**k of Lyons, Apple will witness the biggest selling phone they have ever made.

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

That not downtown everyone holding off buying a 4S for the past couple of months as the 5 was gonna come out?

Of course. The S3 when it was released in July didn't out-sell the 4S that had been out for 9 months. It's only slowed down because people know what's coming. You'd have to be super retarded to have bought an iPhone in the last month or two.

The whole thing is link-bait and you'd expect better from the BBC really.

The 'facts' in there are twisted to fit his argument. This guy has said every iPhone from the start would fail. As well as the iPad.

You can twist numbers in a lot of ways and if people don't know any better, will just take them as fact.

Comparing Apple spending 2% of revenue on R&D vs 14% for Google. Well Apple's revenue is 5x bigger. He mentions marketshare but not profits, which is what matters. Marketshare is just for gloating. It doesn't really mean anything.

Apple 'copying' the Kindle Fire which barely sold or the Nexus7 which means they've designed, prototyped, developed and manufactured a tablet in a couple of months?

Apple are bullies for winning patent trial. Makes no mention of the money that Apple give to Nokia for every iPhone sold (Which means they make more from iPhone sales than they do from their own phones)

Load. Of. S**t.

You will never truly know the value of a companies numbers, unless you work there at a senior level, as they are manipulated constantly to achieve different things.

Revenue/Market share is for vanity, profit is for sanity!

they probably will be if you buy the phone from o2, but i doubt it will have one from apple (unless you buy the o2 PAYG model from them), sims are branded, so i just can't see there being a generic one in the box.

I specifically asked them in that tweet:

"I plan on purchasing SIM free from Apple. How can I get a nano SIM from you (I want to stay with my plan)?"

Wish O2 would hurry up and get the handset with contract prices up.

Apple have confirmed pre-orders will open on their store site at 00:01 Pacific time. I work that out as 08:00 our time?

Poll would be interesting to see what colour/storage people are going for!

Black looks to cool to go white again.

Anyone in here start a contract last year on release date? Odds of getting it next friday? I've only ever done handset only, but for the first time, this seems to work out cheaper.

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

Saw this on O2 community forums nosing for more info.

What o2 is telling people is their 4G network will be ready next year.

This is true.
However, what there not telling you is the iPhone 5 wont support it.The iPhone 5 only supports certain bands/frequency's of LTEO2 has bidded for the 800Mhz/2600Mhz LTE band which is NOT supported on any iPhone 5 model. So expect to see a iPhone 5s or iPhone 5 LTE in the uk in about 8-12months which will then fully support o2/vodaphone LTE network.

So o2 are correct in telling their customers that they will launch LTE is what they dont mention is what handsets will actually support it.

The person replying to chiltern railways tweets tells me the train I'm catching will be on time too (when it's obviously late)

I hope its true, less hassle, but if it was, why would three be handing out nano sims? Why would giff gaff say they won't have them for months (if it came in the box, they'd say so to get those customers and wouldn't say you hav e to wait months).

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

When the 4 came out, I was first in to the westfields store. Queued for about 11 hours. Had it 'reserved' though. Was epic being first in, apple employees high 5'ing me etc lol, what a geekgasm!

However, this time I'm worried. The apple site doesn't mention being able to reserve to collect in store. Also this time, I'm not buying it out right like I did the 4 (just can't spent another £600 this time) so will be upgrading with O2.

Question is, can I carry out my upgrade from the apple store?

Will apple allow me to 'reserve' a phone tomorrow when pre-orders go live, like they did with the 4?

Any help appreciated.

Also annoyed at O2, as I'm on their old truly unlimited contract with unlimited data, but when I upgrade I have to drop down to 2GB a month, which isn't enough for me. Really annoyed, they got me by the balls. And I don't feel like going to EE etc because I've had such bad experiences in the past and O2 has been really good.

Help?

Handset only is the only way around your problem with regards to dropping down to the 2GB and keeping that deal! Three network offer unlimited data iirc.

You won't be able to upgrade your O2 contract through Apple either as far as i know.

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

Not sure how people use 2gb data a month unless they are tethering a lot (and the old contracts didn't let you tether for free), I use my phone constantly all day every day, use it for work email, set to push, download apps over 3G etc and I've looked back over my data usage for the last year and my average is about 150mb a month, how do people use so much data?

Last month, from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, reading the paper online and casual internet browsing and email my data was over 500MB.

Thats shockingly low if you use it as much as you claim!

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

I use at least 2GB per month, the misses usually just under 1GB, no tethering. Not sure how the hell you only use 150mb per month - I'm pretty sure you must be one of the lowest users of data on CS!

Thats a mixture of being on the net on way to work, way back from work and during lunch time and breaks. Playing games which usually connect to games centre etc. Facebook, Twitter etc etc.

But when you can get unlimited for £12.90 a month it really ddoes not matter.

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

I'm about the same as DavidNotDave.

But then I'm rarely anywhere without wifi. I'm hooked up at home and work and anyone elses house where I spend any amount of time. Lol.

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

My work is in the dark ages and we do not have wifi, it's a data killer, much like online p**n.

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

Yeah that was a month where I was a week without WIFI. Can normally stay under 500MB if connected at work but often disconnect due to firewalls etc.

I only have WiFi at home, 3G everywhere else, and never got anywhere near my allowance on a monthly basis. Don't know how someone could use 2GB a month just through 'normal' use as opposed to tethering!

I'm a big wifi user. Wifi at home/office/friend's. I only use 3G when shopping/out and about.

700mb since Oct 2011. Wow.

I can easily smash 2gb of data a month, i turned to the Onavo app to try keep me under my monthly limit.

I watched 2 football games and a Rugby game one month on 3G, even that was only 1.5MB for the month.

2MB is very high IMO.

I pretty much use all of my 500mb data allowance every month, but having just got a wifi iPad I shall want 1-2gb I reckon for iPhone and tethering.

My misses just managed to clock up 1100 minutes when she only has 900 on her tariff on this months bill! guess we will need unlimited come upgrade time!!!

Nothing I can do until February. Debating going sim free, but doesn't really represent that much of a saving. I'll be sticking with EE.

16GB only for me. No real idea why you'd need more. I have a couple of films on there in case I'm stuck somewhere, plus maybe 15 - 20 albums. Pictures and apps, and I still have a few GB free.

Re: iPhone 5. Pre-Orders 14/9. Ships 21/9. iOS6 19/9

Oh I forgot to mention that I use iplayer and sky go a fair bit over 3G too.

I 'use' about 200 minutes a month, but then have magic numbers with EE, so my actual minutes are up near 1000 - 1200.

Honestly, I use it loads, especially for when I'm on site for work all the time and use it for email all day, downloading attachments etc. At home I have wifi obviously, and use my iPad in the evenings, but during the day its all iPhone on 3G, only once in the last 12 months I hit 500mb, and that was only because my phone got stuck downloading an attachment and used 400mb in one day without me knowing, was astounded when I got a text off O2 saying id hit my limit, every month since, 100-200mb but rarely go over about 180mb, so the 500mb plans are perfect for me.
