Fitting ds2500s

I've just got my ds2500s - the 565 model as recommended

I've read Freds advice to remove the shims and file down.
I've looked though and they don't have shims. Has the design changed?
Do I still need to file anything down before fitting?

Thanks

More than likely still need to file them down slightly. You just want them so they slide nicely in the carrier, not binding.

File about 1 mm. each end so there is a little play in them. The shims aren't really necessary as they usually cause squealling. Give the carriers a good wire brushing to remove dust. Drive carefully after fitting them as the brake pedal will feel wooden, they do take a while to bed in.

The shims in your calipers were removed years ago, when i fitted the 1st set of DS2500's.

Just put copper grease on the back of the pad, bung them in the caliper. Job done.

Then make sure you bed them in properly.

Brake from 30-10, 50-30, 70-30, 90-30 a few times, dont stop between braking, then let the pads cool down by going for a nice gentle drive.

Repeat until it feels like your head is about to go through the windscreen.

Cheers guys.
Dave the shims were back in but now back in bin lol

Filed them down ever so slightly and put copper grease on ends. Work a treat

Bedded them in for a short drive and WOW.
Looking forward to FCS now :D

Pretty sure there meant for a 100% dry assembly.

Ie dont put copper grease anywhere near them.

no do not put copper grease anywhere near race pads, EVER

as follows

remove pad shims in pad carriers and bin
grind down back plate, there's 2 nobbly bits at each end of the back plate, girnd here
pad should have 1mm of vertical play when in the pad carrier

I've done that Fred. I didn't put copper grease on the pads just a ver light smear in the calipers where the ends sit so they can slide ok.

Why don't you use copper grease on race pads? Heat related?

Fair enough. But I removed the lovely shiny shims and the calipers were quite rusty.
I sanded them down to make the surface smoother but thought a little smear of copper grease would stop them sticking in the carrier
