This thread is awesome! I love MaztheSpaz threads. :D

LOL!

From reading this thread it sounds to me that the owner is willing to throw 4k at the car to get it supercharged but seems very reluctant despite what everyone is saying to take it to a specialist that can fix the problem.

That imo is complete retardedness.

Repairs > mods

Supercharge it for £4k then have it sitting outside cause it won't got anywhere lol...

FLOL @ supercharging a knackered engine. Why not get ITB's and a turbo at the same time, it wouldn't feel slow then ;)

Iv got a good feeling its the pully letting it down, although they changed all the belts they said the pully was not part of the rebuild, but they said bring the car and the will do it. But at this point i just is f**k the warranty and just get it to Markfish.

Please read this maz, I know its a lot of text, but if you read it your car may survive...

Ok dude, I've never met you but please try and take this seriously as I'm starting to wonder if you are infact, a bit "special"

The guy who rebuilt the engine is offering to have a look at it, you say they have 30 years experience, so take it down there, in very plain, polite, english explain that the car is running like a cat with 3 legs....

If he finds and problem, does some work, and then all of a sudden the car is fine, then you're a winner, you should make it plain that you don't think you should pay for the work as the car hasn't run properly since the rebuild so the service you have paid for in the first place hasnt been delivered. If worst comes to worst, find a price compromise for the work, one which doesnt involve you losing too much dolla.

If he doesn't find the problem, drive the car VERY SLOWLY < (I cannot emphasise this enough) to uxbridge to JMS and explain your situation (all be it whilst they laugh at your very strange attitude to problem solving) They are 172/182 experts and will be ontop of the problem very soon...

I'd then use the information they give you to tell the people who did the work what is wrong with the car and then do one of two things, have JMS fix it and pay up, ask for money back from idiot rebuilder to offset the cost and explain if he doesnt oblige you'll be contacting trading standards etc OR ask JMS to give you a fault diagnosis sheet or similar to show to him, pay them for the time they have spent with it, and have the rebuilders fix the issues.

Guys, when he f*cked his Cup the 1st time round, i offered to buy it from him for the money he advertised it at & would collect it that night.

On the phone, he first moaned at me for phoning him at work, then told me i would have to be there within 2 hours with the money. He had not serviced the car for 2 years & knew absolutely nothing about its history when questioned. Even at £2k with all the bits on it, i decided that it wasnt worth my time, effort, sanity or money.

He comes across as a complete & utter berk, innit blud. Personally, I wouldnt waste your time even considering buying anything from him :)

As above.

I don't think JMS would touch it either. They'd probably diagnose the problem and cure it, but this dude seems to have the opposite of the Midas touch.....simply everything he touches turns to sh*t.
I wouldn't want the ineviatble come backs.

the rebuilt place kept saying they are busy call another time, cant afford to run around got important exams coming up, plus they'll properly mess something else up in the process.

a reply from JMS

Hi ,

Sorry for the delayed reply, Our email account has been down for the last
few days

Sadly i dont think there is much we are going to be able to do for you, From
the sounds of things it looks like you could be looking at a new engine
which is not something we would offer as a service due to the time scale
involved along with the issues related to second hand engines. Sorry we
could not be of more help.

Thanks,
James

Spoke to markfish he said he will find and pinpoint the problem at £58 per hour, and then go from there but said it could be has much as £1500 to put right, but sounded really confident that he will make the car sound again.

Im thinking of doing that but on the other hand its just a £3000 car once fixed, just thinking i can get something reliable for around £4000 like a WRX

Get the car fixed up, and you know it sound. Buy a new one and you could be buying into a whole host of other problems you're not going to have fixed properly....

  Track 172cup
the only thing is can you stomach paying out another £1500 ontop of what you've already spent on the previous rebuild and then as you've said before the gearbox is shagged aswell so theres a possible £2000 of work in total

I have to say £4k worth of WRX could potnetially be a lot less reliable and a lot more expensive!

How about an ibiza cupra, golf gti turbo, something like that?

Take it back there and/or get Citizens Advice involved.

Imho no other garage will want to touch someone else's mess, as it gets them involved from a liability perspective.

it all depends on how much you are willing to do yourself really, theres been some great advice in the thread but in the end of the day if your too busy or cba and just want rid then that's your call (but just be prepared to cut your losses money wise)

imo it would be stupid not to get it checked out and the problem at least diagnosed, if the place that did the rebuild is close then go down instead of phoning ?

im seriously wondering if you are slightly special maz, some of things youve said / posted etc. you ignore peoples genuinely good advice on here, try and rip people off and still carry on in your own little world.

read some peoples advice, get it sorted and dont be such a muppet.

92kmiles fsh the engine was rebuilt 2 months ago from essex engines southeast london in woolwich. At the same time it was serviced, had cam belt changed, and engine rebored.
its has 8 month warranty and they have done a top job. Engine bay now look mint. comes with 10 road tax and MOT till feb 2011.

car has had the following mods:

Makes my piss boil that you've been such a c**t, trying to sell a fucked car to members while lying through your teeth.

Makes me wet myself with laughter that you've been stupid enough to post the problems on the forums. The forum, that the people you're trying to sell it to, frequent. Epic levels of stupidity. Moron.
