Nice one, you can check the MOT online with the number from the V5.

Looks like a bargain if all is as it seems :)

Don't mean to worry you, but the seller bought clio clock set with 69000 miles on it in november, check his transaction history.

Ooooooo that is a worry, the ebay check showed no mileage discrepancy but i guess the MOT check will tell all?

Good spot!! Get the reference number! i bet the lost mot isnt an accident!!

I bet it had done more than 71k when it was MOT'd!

If so how do i go about not buying it?He accepted the offer so technically ive bought it,any way i can wriggle out of it without losing feedback or cash?

Most definately!!! Just contact ebay if he gives you neg and say what you found!

Don't worry about your feedback, if it is dodgy you won't get whacked by ebay, I can't believe this seller would be that stupid to buy a clock and then fit it to this car.
I hope it's straight mate but it is cheap so...........

Ive emailed asking for the v5 number, ill do an online check and if it comes back with more miles on the last MOT than he says then ill inform ebay and reject it.

Just don't pay, 1 negative wont affect you as much as 2k down the shitter.

Its been a strange day actually,i went to test drive an 02 one a mile down the road,i was skeptical about it to say the least as it had 107k on the clock but it turns out a tutor from the local college owns it and hes really looked after it,most of the parts on the car hes replaced and it was a lovely tight driver.

I told him id be bidding on ebay and came home to find that id won the car above via a highest offer,if this one isnt as it seems ill be bidding on the local one as it was really in good shape.

The saying 'Too good to be true' springs to mind, don't mean to burst your bubble, yes you got it at a very very good price but you've got to ask yourself....

a] Why would someone let it go for such a cheap price?
b] would it be so cheap if you went to have a look at the car rather than ebaying?

he does actually say about 71000 on the clock and something about changing them which didnt make sense, just ask the block for referance numbers etc, and about the clocks

He means the mileage will rise as it's in daily use.

Not sticking up for the seller but wipe your eyes and read it properly as it say 71000 on the clock but still being driving so will change that makes sense to me :rasp:

Let us know what happens, im intregued how he'll squirm out of it if it does turn out to be dodgy - especially as a replacement MOT cert is £10, not really an excuse to lower a cars price unless its by a tennar lol

Well,i got an email back, hes given me the reg plate but says he has the mot sticker to prove its MOTd,no punctuation and no cheers or king regards,i think he knows im onto him!

  Ph1 172 + Combo van
You dont need the previous MOT to be able to get the car Mot'd again. So the reason for "loosing it" must be dodgy. If not then he wouldnt have stated it. Ask him where it was done. Ring the garage and see what they have on their records? or ask dvla for the mileage?

107k is nothing for the F4R if looked after.

Ebay for cars risky game.

TBH tho its only common sense to go and see something before you buy

Easy in theory but when youre on a tight budget and have to work all week then keep the missus happy at the weekend it doesnt work out.To be fair if id gone to pick the car up,driven it and itd have been a shed i wouldnt have bought it.

And cheers Fletcher, the car felt nice it was just things like the drivers door sticking, drivers sear wear and interior plastics scratched that put me off,im definately not ruling it out.

There is of course the possibility that the clocks were replaced with ones of similar mileage.

I would be weary, but I wouldn't make any assumptions just yet.

Yep,not only are there too many questions but i dont like the response ive just had from the seller,my emails have all been civil and friendly but the seller seems on edge and doesnt want to give me the info im after.
