Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

Ok, so put 1-2 inches of snowfoam, rest water - then turn the nozzle on top for concentration of foam - one way will be thicker, other will make it like piss.

The nozzle on the front is for adjusting the angle it comes out, try that see how you get on.

Lance might be knackered. Dilute it properly then squeeze the bottle as you pull the trigger.

Squeeze the bottle? Will try diluting later and see if it makes a difference :) Is that foam a good foam or just cheap tat? Seems to clean well anyway even if it doesn't foam much!

That's what you want - Autobrite lance with Magifoam (never tried the superfoam), just got 5L more yesterday - previous 5L lasted me around 2-3 years .

My friend literally started car stuff a couple of days ago, so I hopped onto his buy for it, always used it and it foams up AMAZING - so well in fact that if you dont clear it off the drive, it will be there days later even if its rained. It can go that thick.

The lance I bought I'm happy with, feels rock solid and looks identical to the Autobrite one :) Got bought it for my birthday, came with the foam so just been using that! Will get some Autobrite foam and see how it is, thanks guys!

One final question :) Either of you tried Autoglyms fallout remover? Seems to have decent reviews and is £10 for 5L...

Anyone used the nano trim sealant from wolfs? Thinking there might not be enough sealant in a bottle of gtecniq stuff as I've a lot to do but don't know if wolfs is shite - their paint work body wrap was crap.

The snow foam diluted with warm water worked a treat! Not as thick foam but very clingey so very happy! :) Thanks guys!

@gally I thought I'd reply in here.

I wouldn't say it clung longer, just different ingredients. You don't want a great cling with a tar remover, especially if it has a chance of drying. No no no! I apply to a wet/damp car and go round with a blue MF applicator spray also with tardis.

I think it's very hard to replicate Tradis performance because of the chemicals involved and i've tried a lot.

I was just giving my thoughts and opinions on the auto finesse tar remover vs TARdis, I've only ever had to use TARdis so I wasn't saying anything concrete about the AF offering.

My application of TARdis is similar to yours tbh, I was just wondering why the AF seemed to cling longer/sheet more than TARdis.

Cheers for the pointers though :)

No criticism from me mate. The work was awesome but that blue mf is probably the best tip I received.

Mate wants a sample of a wax i got whats the best way to get some out and put it in a pot for him without spoiling the wax?

Tally ho everyone, come back for some more help from you guys if that's okay :) The astra has a half leather interior, the seat bolsters are leather so I want to protect these as best as I can to avoid any wear to the leather in future. What's the best way to protect the leather? I don't want it cracking etc, but want to keep the kind of matt look of the leather, it is more satin/matt and isn't shiny at all. It's very clean, just needs protecting while it's still all good :)

Also, just had the rear quarter resprayed as it had some scratches and the paint was poor condition. How long until I can:
Snowfoam it?
Wash it?
Clay it?
Machine polish it? Anything I have to do with it to be careful? Going to go over the car sometime hopefully.
Seal it with EGP?
Wax/Glaze it?

Anything else to be careful of? Never had any paintwork done on a car before.

Throw in some food colouring and boil it in a pan, let it set and bingo bango you've got yourself some one off wax. :)

Is it common for the water behaviour of wax to stop along the bottom of the car before the other parts?

I've noticed on my car that the water behaviour is superb on the roof and rear panels but as I get lower down the car the wax appears to of run out.

Am I doing something wrong or is this expected? Wax is Fusso Soft Coat Dark and about 3 months old.

Yep, rear bootlid is a pain in the arse!

@aucky do you find its dirty within a drive or 2? I think it's because I did the flapper mod. So annoying lol.
It's just the hatchback vortex IMO. Low pressure throws all sorts of s**t onto it.

It's the same gasses ultimately, it's not a decat (which gives you soot spots)

Btw, I used CQUK and reload 14 again today, no issues. It was flat white paint though.

Stronger sealants in high traffic areas boys.

The back of the golf is like the mk2 Clio, ie flat hence the dirt.

The golf seems to have a Subaru badge?

Here is my Monaco Clio after some AF TC topped with some Zymol carbon.

On a semi related matter I've noticed a fair few R's on the road and only the inner two of the quadzilla exhausts seem to look sooty...are you guys getting that too?
