Can any of you good folk recommend a place to get my wheels refurbed?

I'm going to stick with the original anthracite colour, maybe a little darker but not black.

In sure lots of people could recommend somewhere, but if you put a location you might find a good local place.

Yes would be a good idea haha. I'm in Halifax but I'm prepared to travel within our region to get a good job :)

Metal Magic at Barnsley.

My 200 Speedlines are currently with them.

Been using them for years - superb.

What price do you pay? I've never had wheels refurbed before, is it a set price?

Hi mate, I pay £180 cash (regular customer rate) and basically drop all 4 wheels and tyres off with them, tyres removed, alloys dipped, stripped, kerbing repaired (welded and lathed back) and then powder coated, tyres refitted - takes about a week.
They do have a same day drive in service but currently booked up until end of May.

Not yet, when I do it will be with Metal Magic or whatever they are called

Cool. I only ask as I've just got some more wheels and they're in ok condition but are a really dull silver so I want them done in a bright, flaky silver. Think I'm going to get quotes from Metal Magic (yes I've done that on purpose  ), Midas Touch and LSN Coatings and see what the prices are like.

Heard really good things about The Wheel Specialist, did a quote online ... £336 :frowning:

I had my Meg wheels refurbed yesterday by LCS powdercoatings in Barnsley, 2 mins off junction 38 m1. Done a cracking job on mine, was done in the day and got a courtesy car (ford ka) I'd ask them for a price on fb mate! :)

That's a decent price. I might give them a call s they are nice and local.

A years warranty with them too. I messaged them through Facebook and they're very responsive, there was a couple of weeks waiting time but that's obviously a good thing. They also do diamond cutting which is worth knowing! :)

Yeah I looked on fb and saw they do turning. The wife's dci wheels are corroding on the turned faces so it's good to know somewhere close does them. I'm going to have a fight with Renault over them first though.

@RyG can recommend a very quick place if you're in a rush?

In no rush, I just want somewhere that can take tyres off/refit and balance etc as I can't be bothered with the hassle or the extra cost to get that done elsewhere. Thanks for the replies :)

I've used CAS Coatings in Bradford before, they just do blasting and powder coating, so if you need repair or tyres doing you need to find someone to do that.

However it's £1 per inch on basic colours and £1.50 for anthracite, candy etc

Took my new set of wheels to LCS Powder coatings last Saturday as was told they would do them Wednesday for me to collect Friday. I went up today (Friday) and they'd not been done. He said they were on with them and they would deliver to me this afternoon. I got a call to say one didn't take and needed blasting again and I wouldn't get them until Monday. No new wheels for me for FCS them. c***s.

So I finally got off my backside, and decided to ditch the std wheel's, and bought a set of (very lightly damaged) Turini's.

Took them to Metal Magic (@Mr Plums) ? and I'm very, very happy with the results!

Stripped, powder coated in anthracite then lacquered.

They also fitted and balance the new Michelin PS3 tyre's I ordered from camskills.

And importantly straightened the 2 lightly damaged rims. Only slightly out of shape, but still extra work.

All this for a great price! ?

Unfortunately they couldn't match the centre caps, as they'd melt in the oven. Yet they happily told me Land Rover Bonatti Grey is an almost identical match to the anthracite that they use.

I'm a happy lad ? More pics to follow once I've sprayed the caps, and fitted them :)

My bill was £216.

On their website is says 4 x 16 inch rims = £160 for a standard refurb.

My bill included fitting my 4 new tyres, valves and balancing.

Plus removing 3 small dint's on the rims.

I'm not going to lie.

I can still see where the 2 damaged rims had dints, but it's very, very minor. And I mean minor.

I wonder if I've got OCD ?

They've done a fantastic job :)
