Update on the 340i

So, last few months I've been gathering parts (wheels, springs & bump stops and body kit) and finally got round to fitting everything. It now looks like something special rather than a 318d with two tail pipes. Next up is to change the brakes, replace the pads for some Yellow stuff's, possibly replace the discs for the performance items and I'm debating a TDi Tuning box for it, to get it to just shy of 400hp.

This looks SO good now!!!

Before i was like, meh, the engines ok, they're quick, but id still much rather have an M3.

Now, sod it, it'll just buy an early 335i and some wheels
Thanks bud, don't get me wrong id still rather have an M3 but I do love the car and its perfect now.

Looks great! Have you replaced the bumpers, or is it just a new diffuser/splitter? Looks much more aggressive than standard.

No, just added the splitter and diffuser front and back and the skirt extensions.

Looks superb Mike!

The want for some of those wheels is real. I prefer them to CSLs.
Thanks bud, I can't stop looking at it when I park up. It looks so different now, had a guy in an M4 gorping at it yesterday. He must have wondered what the hell it was.

What's the ride like on the standard dampers? I'm thinking of lowering mine when my road has been surfaced, struggled to get on my drive even with the SE suspension!
It rides really smooth, bumbs and such in the road actually feel less harsh, but that could be a combo of springs and non-rft's. Ive not touched the splitter yet and I have to drive over a harsh bump in works car park.

Yup - I know they're factory but still can't stand them.

I hate them on all cars - for me it just ruins the look, nice clean glass up front, dark glass at back it just looks odd -

Lovely motor, if you are looking to tune then check out the JB4. Lots of m140i’s running big power with these. The DTUK box’s have a bit of a bad rep

I'm not even bothering with a piggy back box now, Celtic Tuning do a proper remap now that will take the car to 423hp and 445lb/ft. The build quality of JB4's is appalling, I've never looked at DTUK, but I did look at TDI Tuning and RaceChip. However Celtic Tuning have a good reputation and considering the price for the punch, its highly likely I'll be going with them.

Would you not go to someone like BWChiptune, DMS or Evolve? They are some of the best BMW tuners around.

Never heard of BWChiptune, I have heard of DMS and I didn't even think about Evolve. Not bad considering I watch their videos on YouTube ha ha ha.

I would always use a company for tuning that specialises in that manufacturer, not a company that tries to do a map for every single vehicle on the road.

The only place you want to take that for mapping is Litchfield automotive

I was always told to take Celtics figures with a pinch of salt?

Where are you based? Dervtech are getting good figures from this lump.

You can take most tuners figures with a pinch of salt imo just a max figure they reckon they can achieve. At the end of the day it's how it drives that counts.
You could put 99%of people in a genuine 350bhp car tell them it has 400 or more bhp and they would believe you!

Yer very true, they always quote the highest out of any tuners i have seen. Probably just to get extra sales from people who want the highest bhp. I would be more interested in the drive ability of the car, what its like low down etc etc.
