Uneven front tyre wear

Ever since I've had my 172 (9 years) I'v had problems with the front tyres wearing more heavily on the inner 1/3 surface. I've had the wheels aligned a couple of times but this has not made any differencet to the problem which I've just noticed on tyres I've had less than a year. I've searched but seen nothing that refers to this as a common problem.
Any info welcome.

Thanks

Eric

Which tyres are you using, and how miles do you drive a year?

I'd get a printout from a hunter allignment system and take it from there.

I've tried many tyre places who use the laser systems and they could never get it right, 1 session on a hunter and all was good

What are your current alignment settings?
Which tyres are you using, and how miles do you drive a year?
How fast / hard do you drive? ;)
Is it only road driving or also track driving?

Don't know what my current alignment settings are.

Tyres are Uniroyal Rainsport 3 and I do about 3k miles a year. Current tyres have only done about 4.5k.

I drive and corner quite fast but not silly - no track sessions.

I live well out in ths sticks so I'll have to find somewhere that has a Hunter or Supertraker system and go from there . Do any of the usual tyre centres have this equipment or is it specialist?

Thanks for all your replies.

Somehow, I knew that was going to be your answer.

RS3`s were my favourite`s for grip, but only 5k miles ( on the front ) is the payoff.

I`m currently using Avon ZV7`s and the front`s have worn down to 6mm of tread after 8k miles use.

You can move the RS3 fronts to the rear at 4.5mm to eke a bit more out of them.

Put your postcode below for the nearest hunter system.

-0.6 ° toe (negative) each side is decent for road and won't scrub the insides. Your camber could a bit off but as long as it's within -0.5 each side it's not to bad. If more get camber bolts and realign it.

OK. Had the tracking checked at QuilFit, they have a Hunter setup. Charged me £59.99 which I thought was a extortion. Problem was I couldn't watch them do it. I'm always suspicious of these places. What's to stop them putting your tracking out and then telling you they've fixed it. Anyway readings were LF Toe -0.31 - RF Toe -0.48 (right front was wearing worst) steer ahead 0.08 Current measurements LF 0.08 - RF -0.9 - steer ahead 0.00.

However camber is LF -1.03 RF -0.29 - ?

My other question is what difference will Ktec spacers make to these measurements? (On the way back to QuickFit saw a pristine 03 172 and saw it had Ktec spacers - spoke to the owner).
