The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

Copied from the Ford thread, as thought it deserved a place here too!

Here's one to make the enthusiasts cry. I had a couple of parts advertised and the owner of this came to buy something. When I first saw it, I assumed it was a rep, but no, it's a genuine Cosworth.

It was, to be honest, an absolute dog :( Obvious it was filthy, but the paint was dull all over and there was even over spray on the lights where poor repairs had been carried out. You can see in the first picture that the front wings had primer on them, but rust was coming back through, but the tailgate was also really rotten, both along the bottom edge and around the back window. The side skirts were hanging too. You could see the rust in the sills, so it looks like the rivets had just pulled out. Centre caps missing, front splitter/hockey sticks missing, the interior was a real mess too. Leather was pretty threadbare in places, bits of trim were hanging off and there was wiring hanging down in places, not to mention the fact that it was completely full of junk.

The bloke really didn't seem to care though. Said he'd owned it about 15 years, used it every day, regardless of the weather, and it had done about 165k (albeit only around 60k since a rebuild). He said he had a Saph Cos and a MK2 Escort that he was restoring, and that he would get round to doing this "one day".

Bonkers really, can't be many around that are treated like this!

Driving it how it should be driven. Pointless owning these things and them being garage queens. Granted it looks a bit of a state, but I bet he has the time of his life in it and, if it gets restored to it's former glory, all the best to him. But on 165k, it's never going to win concours is it

It looks like any other Escort of the same age that's been used as a daily. Good for him.

It's got moon miles on it and fair play to him he's had plenty of fun out the thing.

Realistically though would anyone do a massive resto job on a car with such huge miles? You'd surely never see the money back.

Maybe he just wants to keep using it as a daily until he pops his clogs. Although it would have made more sense to look after it better than to run it into the ground and then restore it. It would be cool to have all the RS gimps drooling over a mint restored cossie and tell them it's done moon miles and you'd have it crushed before you died?.

I spotted a grey fiat coupe today. Still quirky and doesn't look it age at all imo.
I saw a T reg sprint blue one a couple of weeks ago. The black sills always let the early ones down, but it still looked quite nice. They actually look quite small these days too.

Just passed one of those Track focussed Jags they reviewed on GT last season.

Burnt Orange colour, Looked lovely.

Nice GT4 570s in my mates workshop for snagging when i popped in today .
He has the contract for all the Mclaren pre delivery paint snagging which always surprises me they don"t do inhouse.

While there he had his MG Jaques Coune ... its the car made by the Belgium company prior to the MGB GT coming to life

56 ever made 11 left and he has 2 mint examples he has restored and 1 more he is going to convert to a historic rally car.

Plus 2 more to be restored for customers.

They are a fibreglass shell on an MGB chassis

I love popping in for a cuppa , but today it was to drop in some new bike parts to be lacquered

To be fair it's a Ford Escort with over 200k on it, I think he has been looking after it as best he could.

A silver F355 on the A406 race track on Saturday, then a bright orange Aventador Roadster & a grey Huracan in crappy Ilford, both parked up. Not together.

Had been hankering for a go in one for a while and, following a chat at an event, the opportunity arose, so couldn't say no.

Very impressive car overall. Loads of equipment, comfortable, nicely put together, a good drive and rorty soundtrack.

Would take a hatch over the fastback though.

Look good in your pictures actually, but I think I'd choose the hatch too. Wish they made an estate version!
