Bought this back in March last year to use for road rallies (12Cars), track days and the occasional drive.
It took me a few months to get it road worthy and save up for insurance, tax etc.

This was it once I bought it..
IMG_2932.JPG

The rear interior was striped out so started by replacing that and getting a set of steel wheels to use for the Road rallies because they would be cheaper to replace if damaged from pot hole punctures.

Since having it on the road I have :
- Sprayed most of the plastics, grills and wiper arms satin black.
- replaced all the bulbs to LED and Chromed Indicators.
- retro fitted an Aux point using the Connect2Box for the original Radio.
- bought Powerflex anti roll bar and wishbone bushes (still need to fit them).
- Changed the Steering wheel to a MOMO dished one.
- Bought @Cub.s OZ F1's the other day just need to get a set of tyres before they can go on.

here are some pictures...

In the past week I have removed the subframe, wishbones, ARB to paint and fit the powerflex bushes

bought a fabia front splitter and second hand K-tec exhaust until I can afford a new recessed one

And also why I had the bumper off to fit the splitter I sprayed the badge and fog surrounds

While everything was off I also found the radiator had perished where the air con mounts to it
Has anyone else encountered this ? If so what did you do to fix it ?

Last week I removed the headliner and re-trimmed it in alcantra
Found it quite hard to get it to stick and fit with any creases as it was the first time I had ever done anything like it. Pretty happy with how it turned out and just need to spray the sun visor and light to match the grey plastics to Finnish it off

And then also took some random or how the car stands atm

looks good, where did you get the alcantra material from? wouldnt mind having a crack at this myself.

Cheers I just got it off eBay, was one of the first ones that came up. Wasn't a perfect colour match but close enough for what I wanted and not like it's right next to the existing material. So can't really notice.

Been awhile since I have done any updates too the car due to money for holidays and so on. I have done a few 12 car rally's since my last update but now have decided I'm going to spend some money on on the car in the coming months to prepare it for track days next year

Going to concentrate on handling and braking for now until I have done a few so the bits I plan on getting are :

- Coil overs
-suspension refresh (track rods , ball joints etc)
- solid top mounts
- buckets and harnesses
- another set of wheels and tyres
- ploy bush rear beam , shocks and steering rack bushes
And then maybe the pms linkage

Over the last few weeks I've gathered some bits to refresh and clean up the engine bay which I'm going to start this weekend

391f7911a850ca3104b932992dc3b4f9.jpg

Going to make a ktec style induction kit

5d9c7723b5f63ef70bbc27c510de597e.jpg

Also bought the PMS air-con delete kit and rear stud axle spacers

02f72e88d0090c4f8eeefb6cd45ebf19.jpg

Lastly I'm going to make up some brake ducts. Bought the ducting and made some deflector plates at work which I hope will work well enough

bf87565a83ca8be74df0985a0f46ef84.jpg

Still need to get hold of the NS wheel arch so the ducting and be held to it before I can do them

My insurance is also due in September and now being 21 hopefully will a lot more affordable. Are there any companies people recommend as I will be wanting track day cover and will be having modifications too ?

I'm with green light who have been excellent. Basically;

- unlimited additional modifications upot a certain power band. Mine is 270bhp, meaning I could faff about with diff changes, roll cages, seats, suspension and exhaust etc as much as I like as long as I don't exceed 270bhp

- I'm on the track package, so if I do a track day it's a flat £50 to the agreed value with them.

- Neil and Dan know their stuff, and own / have owned clios previously so they know what is what / show genuine interest in your car.

Looks good, if you ever want a hand of an evening with any jobs that need two pairs of hands give me a shout mate.

This is most of the bits that have now been removed, quite surprised at how much it all weighs ..

Update time...

Last weekend I had a Friday off so got the Bilsteins fitted and also the PMS solid top mounts and strut brace.

Then I've spent the last week adjusting them to work out what position is best to have them in

This was before (I know the car needs a clean :L)

Rears

Fronts

I started on the rears first as I knew it would take a lot less time. Before and after:

The picture does actually make it look higher then it looks in person but I'm going to remove the rubber bits between the spring to lower it a tad more as it still needs it.

Next I cracked on with the fronts and the PMS top mounts.

Then this is at the height it's set to at the moment, may need to raise it a little again as the arch liners rub abit on hard cornering.

Where did you get the aly from? All the stuff I've found on the net seems quite expensive.

I just had it lying about in the garage no idea where I got it
Can't remember the size of what you need
I'll check and have a quick look if I get a minute today

Since last time a few little bits have happened,

Firstly the car had its MOT which it passed no advisories.
I also have my personal plate fitted too now.

I spent some time realigning the exhaust as it vibrated on a heat shield now an then.

Also fitted some Powerflex rear shock bushes . As the old ones seemed to have the plastic falling away

Lastly these arrived yesterday....

Which I should be gathering bits up for over the next couple of months. I will also be making my own brackets up and wheels spacers up too.

Over the last few weeks I have been collecting even more bits for a front end refresh to fit over Christmas while I'm off from work
I have now got new, ball joints, eibach camber bolts and Powerflex steering rack bushes and the new top engine mount they do

I have also been collecting and making bits for the brembos over that past week when I've had a bit of spare time

The challenge was to get them under the o.z f1s with minimal machining to the callipers

I have managed to do it with no machining to the calliper but relocated the hole on the hub and made a bracket to suit.

This is my first off which I made to prove and check it fitted in the wheel.

5d4189728678d1621c49cafa9698c0b7.jpg

bbcd4971a12c191a63069fcd14515941.jpg

f43664e8cd8572612f14f5a9d7e49220.jpg

I then made another while updating what I needed to make it fit better and have the calliper in a slightly better position

This was the final design in Ali and have made the final ones that will be used out of steel for strength.

50a21b398759263539bbec53f76b5732.jpg

c404696c2252fbe1c424530ed7b2ab09.jpg

The steel ones are now off to be zinc coated to prevent rusting

Then I also made 19mm spacers as that's what I needed to space the wheel away enough to give clearance.

360692fe454c23b9c31d1ec3ee96daf1.jpg

I will be pressing in ford studs in through the back too to make a stud conversion.

Then when it's all fitted this is what it will look like

The calliper has about a 1-1.5mm of clearance from the slope bit inside the wheel.

The final bits I need should be delivered soon which are braided lines and fluid then I Hope to fit all of it over Christmas

Thanks for reading

So Over my time off over Christmas I fitted the brembo callipers along with new disc and pads.

I made my brackets at work in my free time and machined the hub and made a bracket to suit this meant I didn't have to machine the calliper at all and also moving the calliper around the centre of the wheel meant I could get a lot more screw thread making them stronger

7bd41c8c82ddb239600c3fe7fc53c442.jpg

I also fitted new ball joints and wheel bearings while the hubs were off.

This is before

ec978d38697dbc023fb004d6472d0518.jpg

I removed the coilovers also and gave them a good clean then fitted some covers to protect them in the future.

Next was the brackets, disc, calliper and braided lines

I Still have a few other bits to fit which are :

-track rod ends
-new ate brake fluid (full flush)
- Powerflex steering rack and upper engine mount bushes
- eibach camber bolts
- rear stub axle spacers
- rear braided lines

Good work with the brackets! I'd love a pair of the brembos on my car, but F1's have always been a downer
What did you have to machine on the hub?
