Well some of you may recognise my name or my previous ph1 track/race car

Unfortuanilty to fund the new race car...

Anyway. The new thread is on my new build, 56plate r53 cooper s that I’m building to compete in the new championship that’s starting up here in scotland.

As this is a championship it’s very tightly regulated, I’ll not bother you all with the specifics, I’ll keep all the bits fitted upto date in this with pics etc.

First off I have started with the interior, the lot is stripped out, tar removed and cleaned, battery mounted, isolator, extinguisher, cage feet all welded in and loom cut back. I have seat mounts to weld in and the boot floor battery tray has been removed ready for a flat plate to be welded in. Once that’s done I’m waiting on my paint arriving to paint it.

I shall keep those interested up to date with the build. Aim is to be compete for testing in March!

Well had another few shifts on the car and the interior is almost finished! Just ready for paint and then can finally bolt in all the bits.

Original Battery tray cut out and a plate welded in place

Regulation wise we keep standard seat mounts but are allowed to weld in plates to move them back so this is done.

Battery, cartek isolator and 4ltr electric extinguisher mounted (all rivnut for easy removal!) still to be wired in but this will be done after paint

Exhaust, Rear subframe and arms removed, full stripped down and ready to be blasted/painted

I’ll be painting the underside of the car before fitting with all new parts!

Work continues after the day job and that’s the front suspension, subframes, hubs, arms and even the from end of the car stripped off.

These items will be going away to be painted and receive a lick of paint before being fitted with all new bushes, ball joints, bearings etc etc.

Had a cheeky paint delivery which the eagle eyed may see and notice the cars colour scheme [emoji51]

I’m heading down to autosport show, so no more work until the weekend - next up is getting the interior painted then pull out the engine!

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out @Fraser.J.

I assume you will be replacing charger fluids with the ease of access etc? (They can run extremely low/almost dry, as the mileage clocks up).

All fluids will be getting done on the engine!

Any tips on what for it? I’ll need to order some up! And gearbox oil actually.

This is 56 plate and the mileage is only around 80k so not too high.

You can order pre measured supercharger oil from eBay, I got some for mine last year when I was servicing the engine. There was nothing in one side and the other had a little bit drop out.

Also be careful with the vac line connections on the charger pipes, they have a specific way of being removed. You press in the red collar and pull the pipe inside it up.

Do you have a link [emoji16]

I done a terrible job of keeping this up to date!

I’ll not bother too much with chat.

I’ve kept it brief so I didn’t go too mental with a million pictures!

Love this wee car compared to the Clio. Handles much better but so heavy!!
