New 172 Lights

Just picked up my spankin new 172 today! yaay!....a BIG difference to my outgoing but excellent 1.5dci!

Boy that spare wheel and tool kit weigh a ton!, glad they are now in my spare bedroom cupboard some lightweight alloys for my new baby I think.

Only one problem I have seems to be the fact that the lights come on (main beam)as soon as I start the engine?...picked it up late this afternoon so was quiet dark, is there some light sensative mechanism that is forcing them on even though the light switch on the stalk is in the off position?

When I turn the light switch one click the main beam goes off and the side ligths turn on?! then when I turn the lightstalk/switch to full they are back on full.

Any ideas?

Turn on the ignition but dont start the car. Then turn the lights stalk on and off twice. Youll get a beep. This enables / disables the auto lights feature.

Autolights shouldnt activate main beams though, just normal headlights.

Ummm interesting I replied as I ordered it in Monacco Blue!!

lol!..didnt complain too much as didnt fancy waiting til January for a blue one like yours!....got 6 Renault valets and an 1/8th of a tank of fuel as compensation!...doh!

Still its fun playing with the SatNav and confusing the lady!

You got xenon headlights mate, they are the dogs... very bright and give everything a lovely blue glow, if you have only had normal headlights before you will find that they seem as bright as main beam standard headlight.
To be sure is your main beam warning light on or you dipped beam light have a lok in your book.
Never come across a clio bringing main beam on automatically so you best check.

Its also got auto wipers they are ace, on your wiper switch/stalk you got a sensitivety setting switch just twist it to adjust. To get the working make sure your wiper switch is in the second position.

Dont you guys do a study of a car before buying? I knew every little detail and feature of my Dynamique 1.6 and 172 even before I got the car. No manual needed.
