Nothing exciting, literally fell over! Managed to break it that badly that I don't actually need a cast on it because there's that much metal in it!
Re. The wheels I've cut down from 4 sets to 3 this year.
Russ
Sounds painfull if its that full of metal, my son had a spine op last october - 2 x 300mm titanium rods and 18 screws at £400 each the surgeon said the screws were £40 each the rest was legal fees etc :eek:penmouth:

Not quite to that extent! One rod from knee to ankle and 6 screws I think. Doubt mine is titanium either, probably raw mild steel knowing Carlisle hospital!

Been having a tidy out in the garage today, sold my house so need to pull my finger out and get 'Nicole' back into one piece.
Managed to get my Longacre wide mirror back from the 172 I built so refitted that.

Cleaned the rear discs up and refitted the rear wheels. Looks like one of the rear calipers is goosed as it's filling the rear boot with fluid so that's on the list to replace.

Rear bumper is back on too.

Been stripping weight out of the car where I can too and hoping to be 850kg or under with race fuel when I get it back on the scales. That's as light as it's ever gonna get considering the cage is approx 50kg or so.
Keep your eyes peeled over the next week or so as there's going to be a lot of parts arriving and it'll be all going back together asap.

Well the expensive bits are on their way.
Pure motorsport ITB's, pure motorsport exhaust system and exhaust manifold, pure motorsport engine and gearbox mounts and pure motorsport clutch and lightweight flywheel.

Been stripping the subframe and hubs off the car tonight. Since I sold it it looks like it's sat in a damp garage until I got it back so a lot of the front end bits have corroded so they're getting plated or powder coated.

Had to take all the subframe off and take everything off it, wishbones, rack, hubs, arb etc.
Bearings needed pressed out of the wishbones and bottom bearing holder, new ones inc circlips are on order.

Just pressed the bearings out in the vice as I wasn't going to the workshop to use the press just for that! I do need to for the wheel bearings however.

Bottom bearing holders looking scabby

And everything ready for plating once I've pressed the wheel bearings out.

Pms 48mm throttle bodies, pms single box exhaust system, pms exhaust manifold, pms solid engine mounts, pms billet flywheel and Sachs racing paddle clutch kit. New battery and battery cut off, electronic extinguisher kit, new front door windows and rain light.
My subframe and wishbones are powder coated I just new to pick it up and build it all back up tomorrow with the new bearings and bushes. Dropped the hubs off to be plated as well.

Got a few bits done in preparation for refitting the engine, bolted the throttle bodies and manifold on roughly just to see it built up.

Thought I better actually build it up after that so bolted the itbs on properly along with the top engine mount. Changed the spark plugs for new NGK-r's and stuck the leads on, new thermostat fitted and I'm waiting for my water pump to turn up tomorrow so the aux setup can be all checked and torqued up.
Got the flywheel fitted too.

All new bolts fitted and torqued up. Clutch aligned and fitted.

Thought I might as well chuck the gearbox on.

And the gearbox mount.

Decided to call it a night after that, well after I'd chucked the manifold on to take a picture!

More progress coming tomorrow hopefully!

I thought you were just putting it back together so it would be easier to move assembled rather than in boxes , didn't realise it's a full on race car !
When's it due out or is it to late now for this year.

Getting there. Subframe on, wishbones on with new bearings.

Been sent the wrong arb inner bushes so I can't fit that until they arrive this week.
Got the water pump fitted and new coil pack and then started putting it all in the car.

Still have the gear linkage to connect, radiator hoses to finish and oil cooler to mount tomorrow. Oil is in, still need some gearbox oil, coolant and brake fluid.
Waiting on a few bits coming this week, proper Jenvey linkage and cable for the throttle bodies and throttle position sensor.
Got my new RSport Sparco steering wheel and Go-Race quick release boss today as well so fitted those.

Got some more bits done today. Got the oil cooler and radiator mounted, radiator hoses all refitted. Oil catch tank and hose refitted. Gear linkage connected up with new bush and circlip fitted + patented dab of silicone over the circlip to stop it falling out!
Got the exhaust fitted too, may need some fettling but it's on for now.

Forgot to post a pic the other day of the hubs once I'd striped them for plating. All the roll centre bits needed removed. Thanks to Mark @NorthloopCup for the pointers.

Got some bits to sort on the loom before I can refit that and hopefully the bits I'm waiting on will be here Tuesday/Wednesday. Could potentially be up and running towards the end of the week.

Nice work! Which windows did you go for? I've been looking at a set recently.

This has always been my favourite Clio 'race car'.....drooled over it last time when you had it for sale. Awesome attention to detail with all the right bits on it and done to such a high standard! Nice work

Great idea I'm the silicone on circlip I'm stealing there.
Did you take any Pics of oil cooler mounting?

After loosing the circlip and bush at cadwell and hence all gears in quali years ago I've run it like this ever since.
Re. The oil cooler see the pic further up the page, it's just bolted directly to the underside of the front bumper bar.

We're getting there, car is pretty much done apart from waiting on a few bits. My hubs are still getting plated even though I was promised them back last week. Fingers crossed I'll have them tomorrow along with a minor throttle linkage part I'm waiting on from Jenvey. Rear caliper is still to do aswell.

Throttle pedal, cable and linkage is all done now apart from the outstanding part I've already mentioned. I've gone with what I know, proper Jenvey sprung linkage and custom cable and adjuster setup like I've run previously. Allows me to mess around with the pedal height to get it perfect for heal and toe.

While at that end, the TPS sensor is fitted and wired up, the proper injectors are fitted now along with the blank on the fuel rail. Got the air temp sensor fitted into the air filter back plate too.

Rest of the jobs have been wiring and fitting the extinguisher really. Pulled the engine loom apart to tidy some bits up and remove some wires.

Technically could of started it but need to setup the throttle position/throttle stops and have the laptop on it so left that for tonight. Also need to adjust the exhaust/manifold as I currently can't get reverse without the linkage hitting the system.

I've made myself a cover for all the electrics/battery out of some spare carbon sheet as it tidies it all up nicely. Anyone that's seen the car will know I don't run any stickers on it, only people that's really helped me out I'll advertise hence why the only ones on it currently are TDi North and CM Composites. Thought I'd put a sticker on for Nick @pure-motorsport after his help recently with various things + the car is like a rolling Pure Motorsport catalogue anyway!

Wrong part sent by Jenvey and hubs weren't ready to collect so guess we'll try again tomorrow! Why can't people just do their job properly!
Russ

I ask myself that question relentlessly when it comes to the car business. Customer service is non-existent. So many supposedly reputable companies are stuck in the dark ages.
