MK1 172 Not Starting

Recently our 172 has begun not starting from cold when its been a bit damp as well. Tried spraying everything in WD40 but no joy.

People have mentioned the TDC sensor in cases like this. Does anyone know how accessible it is? Can you get to it with the air filter out of the way?

Its a real pain in the backside as I had to push it on and off our steep drive to get my other car (79 MGmidget - which started first time!!!!) out.

Did the dash board imobiliser light go out? As imobiliers can be problems just as much.

Sorry should have mentioned that.

The imobiliser light does goes out and the fuel pump starts all dashboard lights work as usual - Ive tried depressing the clutch which worked once before but still no joy.

Its a defect of the sensor of VOLANO...Im non translate in english for the italian....mmmm....VOLANO its the disk in this pic....

right? the Renault engine have a defect on this sensor....my parent Clios have been this problem and my friends Clios has been the same problem...
