Mckosi Racing 182

  Clio 182
I bought the baguette back in 2016 ran i daily up to may 2018 when i got a new daily.
After toying with selling it for a long time i never ended up getting rid, so i put it into storage until i could decided what to do.
come round to may 2019 the garage storing my car sold up and so i had to find new place to keep it. Luckily a friend of mine offer to keep it in his car port (with beer in return) so i've decided to rebuild it, do what i've always wanted to do and go to track days. This thread is mainly for my records of what i'm doing/ done but i enjoy reading builds so thought others might mine. i'm handy with a spanner but never really got hands on with the car as i was dailying it so be prepared for a lot of questions, and any help is welcome.

I started this build with the "few polybushes, suspension, tyres etc."mentality but as i've started removing bits its become apparent that its going to need a lot of work. i work 3 jobs so progress will be slow but ill try update when i can.

Enjoy
Brodie

Ok so update one, my plan was to fit a pair of polybushed bottom arms that i bought way back when and never got round to fitting so i decided that i'd tackle this first.
This is where the rust began. I've probably spent the best part of 2 days removing these bottom arms. The first side inner bush was rotted to the bolt, this resulted in cutting the bolt. The second side the bolts were so rusty that i removed the entire hub with the arm.
As you can see i don't think these have been changed in 12 years.

I am waiting on some better condition hubs and other bits to arrive and i can build everything back up

In the mean time while i'm waiting for other parts, i made some brake ducts, fitted the new steering wheel, painted the plenum and got rid of the rear wiper.

Another quick update as i had time to kill this morning.

When i got the car out of storage i took it for a quick spirited drive spirited drive and found the back end was a little "oversteery" i also noticed it was a bit Forrest Whitaker on one side, as @Donalds12 sorted me out with some new rear cooksports i already had some rear cup dampers coming so got those fitted aswell.

I'm aware the rear beam looks worse for wear so I'll be getting that dropped and powdercoated at some point

Im going away this afternoon on holiday and yet have found myself in the shed again.
Few hours to kill so a little bit more progress, i decided that as I'm virtually replacing everything on the front corners i should tackle the hubs.

Spent this morning spliting them from the bearings. These are going to blasted and sprayed by a mate with some new bearings so when i get back i can rebuild everything.

Now then

As i suspected im gonna be scrappy on here, works been so busy but started making progress again.

I've now got refurbed hubs with new bearings, arb brackets, ABS sensors, ABS rings, ball joints etc and brakes on from @George@RTR_Parts make sure you see him for any brake needs, lots of knowledge, honest (and sends haribos in your parcel)

Starting on the other hub this week when I've got some time, hopefully the ABS rings aren't as bad as the other side.

Cheers

This is my favourite update so far.

Finally, a update with no rust.
Its been nice to actually add "fun bits" and not just trying to trying to fix broken crap for once.

Last few days ive got a rear cage, got that mounted and got the seats back in (seem to sit wonky on OMP frames though I'm gonna invest in some @JON FOZ frames at some point i think.

Waiting on a pms style shifter coming from germany, will update when thats in.

Here we go with another update.

Finally after months ive finished the front corners after waiting for some funds for my new brakes. Ive got refurbed calipers now on with braided lines and Ferodo DS2500 pads, everything bled and done.

I've also fitted a new shifter from @Fabian beautifully made and feels 1000x better than standard.

Shifter looks really smart. Not seen that one before. Where is it from?

Bit of a maintenance update, after being sat in the car port forever i took the car for a blast as i got back it started misfiring, after looking into it I've ended up changing the lambda, coil pack and finally diagnosed it to the old worn out plugs and @George@RTR_Parts sorted me out also added some bonnet pins as it never wanted to open on the latch and theres loads of dints where I've punched the life out of it.

Check all the connections and earths. You have replaced most of the other ignition parts so I would suspect the injectors. You normally get a flashing EML with injectors. Not always though!!

Had a problem with my track car misfiring lately and for some reason I am getting water in one of the plug holes. It must be from one of the washer jet hoses under the bonnet as not too sure how water would get in there otherwise. I have magnacor silicon leads too and they don't seal the plug hole as well as the standard ones.

I had one plug that had oil in im guessing from filling it at somepoint and its tracked down gonna check injectors next. Im about ready for firing it at the moment

Looking to be a really cool build thread.

How hard did you find the hub bearing to replace?

Cheers bud,to get the bearing out i just smacked it out with socket and hammer then cut the collar and pried it off. Gave them a sand blast and painted them up. then to get the new ones in i took them to my mate with a 20t press, 10 minute job

Considering selling this, been in storage for 3 years. Turned over once a week starts on button always filling with Vpower. What do folk think its worth?
