Last Batch Of 172’s

R

rich[182]

Was told today by main dealer that the main reason why the last batch of 172s keep having their delivery date change is that there all having some gearbox work/changes carried out, have they had a history of gearbox problems ?

Well Ive had 3x 3rd gears including the one which came with the car and a new 4th gear and 5th gear as well as a new clutch. This is on a 03 172, with low milage and driven lightly.

So maybe theyve realised that there maybe a little problem and are trying sort the them out at the source instead of relying on Renaults chain of incompetent dealers having to take several goes at trying to fix them.

Only 4000 more problems for them to sort out. I reckon they should just about get them all sorted before they start building the new shape Clio as it looks like theyve got this problem sorted just before they stop building the 172.

Yeah, they can and do go...

My Cup was diagnosed as needing a new box after a mere 500 miles from new!

Nothing really...

It was making a whining noise in 1st gear (only 1st), which was there from new, but gradually getting louder & louder. Was also stiff to get out of 5th, but the rest of it was fine.

They tried changing the gearbox oil, but it made no difference.

It went in at about 2000 miles and they just swapped the box!

Noticed mine was leaking oil at 650 miles....so must have been doing it from the start too.

Took them 5 weeks to get me a new one....had a astra hire car...cost them a fortune!!!

ive just done 1500 miles from new, so far everything seems to work ok, and its getting faster and smoother as I gently open her up, the running in theory certainly seems to have paid dividends in this instant!!!!!
