Interior light

  TDI tyre shreader

Right my car has just been in for the first service and i asked them to check the interior light because its not been working since ive had the car. The problem is that it does work but stays on all the time with the doors closed, the little doors open light also stays on. The mechanic reported back, i dont know why its staying on my be a problem with the clp sensor (maybe wrong cant remember what he exactly said) or a wiring fault. So its going back in on thursday. Anyone have any idea? bloody annoying!!

Apparently the guy tried different switches or something like that, surely the light circuit cant be that complicated?? Ive stuck a bit of metal in the connectors before now aswell and it still stayed on

Its all controlled by the ECU I guess (what isnt these days?) So unless its the switch its going to be a sod. Leave it to the dealer.

This better not get expensive, i think they may say that it has something to do with the alarm since its an aftermarket alarm/import car and bill my ass to the ground!!!

most likely a door pin switch problem. the front doors have pin switches and the boot has a switch combined into the catch mechanism. when the doors are shut the circuit is open. you put some metal over the terminals is just making the circuit so putting the light on rather than an attempt to switch it off. try disconnecting the pin switches in turn to see if it goes off.if that doesnt help then remove the boot panel and disconnect the catch connector to see if that light goes out then.
