Immobiliser and key problem

well i was just going out to get some tea, i unlocked the car as normal with the remote central locking key..got in and drove 5 mins down the road.

when i got out and went to lock it i found the remote central locking wouldn't work...i then tried locking the car and unlocking to de-activate the immobiliser, turning off the immobilisor but in the end called my dad who brung out my spare remote central locking key..which worked

so hopefully it was justa flat battery in the key..

but the light still worked when using the key?
a few questions then

what does the keyhole underneath the glove box do?

what does the Keyhole in next to the washer bottle do?

and does anyone know were to get the batteries for the keys from?
