More parts added to the pile , a subtle breather catch tank to help keep the engine bay clean and easy to work on .

Tempted to go sequential gearbox this time round , mainly as ive always wanted one. Issue is trying to find a used Sadev in the UK.

Speak to Quaife.... they were in the process off doing a sequential box using the standard gearbox cases. They were asking for knackered 1*2 gearboxes around a year ago so they could do R&D, don't know where they are with it now but it's worth an ask.

Thanks will drop them an email , only thing is the weak point of the JC5 is in the casing , but they may have done similar to the honda box they do where only part of the original casing is used.

If it’s anything like the Honda box stay away. A mate of mine has been through 6 in 2 years. A few of us rally lads messaged quafie about testing them on our clios and they didn’t want to know.

  Several
Quaife boxes do seem a bit hit and miss. A few big Escorts use the RWD one (60g?), but the FWD stuff often seems to have a bad reputation.

Ive heard that as well , I know somone running one in his civic this year with no issues but also know people thats had lots of issues.

I have been contacted by the guy from Maxi motorsport about the billet box they are now importing, first one is getting fitted to a clio next week so see how that goes.

Have a look on race and rally. They sell a 3MO sequential that’s getting popular. Fits a Clio too.

I think you made that up. They have a sadev.
I’d rather a 3MO than the maxi motorsport box though. Anything that comes in anodised blue shouts made in Taiwan ?

Sadly no updates from this but I have somehow started to sell bits off the car before even starting the winter rebuild :(

On the plus side money is going towards extending the garage at my new house .

Hopefully the green shed will see track at some point next year , but I had hoped to have the engine out by this point.

Only update on this is i picked up a new subframe so that has been dropped off for powdercoat in red , been busy with work on my new house so the cars have took a back seat for now.

But on the plus side my garage ext / workshop is started with wall going up this week , so hopefully will have room to make a start on the car next month, when I get home from work as should have all the parts needed by then.

Will definitely help ??
You’ve got plenty of space to slide under the sill aswell. I have to jack the back up and slide it under and turn it.

I use an inpact gun to raise and lower the ramp.
You had it level with all 4 wheels off the ground yet?

Yes had it up and level but left it , tilted back as hoping to take the subframe and engine out on Friday. I actually had to jack the front of the car up to get the lift far enough forward so the weight was spread more evenly
I was going to 're fit this engine but may leave it bolted to the box as a spare, I will just put a belt and the ARP bolts into my spare engine

You need to get some mud flaps on it and Msa log booked and do some rally’s. Would be pretty competitive with a clicky

Got the subframe built back up ready for the engine to be fitted.

Also got the old engine out have to say it was so easy with the little lift ,put a trolley under the sump , dropped the car down , undid the mounts then lifted the car up then pulled the engine clear.

Received my timing belt kit and dephaser from RPD . So hope to get that all fitted to my spare engine on Wed along with arp rod bolts and billet flywheel.
All going well I would like to have the engine back in the car by the weekend then can start stripping and 'rewiring

Managed to get a few hours work on the spare engine today.

Timing belt kit fitted
Timed to group N
New depahser
ARP rod bolts fitted
Sump gasket fitted
Sump and block painted.

Tomorrow I should get the billet flywheel and helix clutch fitted ,pure breather plate.
I then need to mount it in the subframe and get the exhaust and starter switched over from the other engine. Not sure if I can fit the bodies before the engine gets slid under the shell.

Today's progress , almost ready to roll back under the shell. Just need to pick up some longer bolts for the bellhousing as the standard ones are too short.
Before I 're fit it I want to 're route the brake lines along the bulkhead and also work out where I'm going to run the ecu wiring through.

Progress has been slow this week due to the weather and builders being working on the garage.
I have managed to get a few more bits back in the bay.
Now need to work out 're routing the heater hoses as the shifter goes through the original hole.
Plan is now to rip out the rest of the interior and then start on the wiring.
