Up on the ramp and corner weighting done came in at 901kg with 1/4 tank and both seats in. Then it was time to get the strings out for alignment.

Had the car on a friends dyno this morning to check the fueling.
The engine was mapped by efi in Frasers car with group n timing, I have a 182 manifold and different exhaust but fueling still seems to be safe.
If I was planning on running this engine long term I would take it back to efi for a tweak but justnow I’m just glad it’s safe.

We did a couple of 4th gear pulls and one in 3rd. Showing 169 whp and 154 torque.

It was on a DynoJet dyne so will be different to the readings the SLS guys have been getting at RA , we did pull my old engines graph it was 205atw on the same dyno, and was 190+ at Performance HQ . Would guess this would be closer to 155atw on the RA dyno

My clutch and flywheel turned up today , thanks Russ
I have my first trackday booked for this Sunday. It’s short 15 min sessions so ideal to give the car a shakedown. I will then decide if it’s worth fitting the clutch and a refurbd gearbox or wait until I fit the turbo engine later in the year.

Few pics from yesterday’s track day, was fun to be back out on track. With the car not having the extra power any more to hide my mistakes I’m really going to have to learn to drive it harder

After the cars first track outing Ive got the bug again so hope to get 2 or 3 days booked up for next time Im home . There is a full day open pit , so may try to get booked on for that so I can try and get some much needed seat time and also mess about with suspension settings.

I also picked up a couple of sets of 1.2's with 888R's , so will be selling the Sparco wheels with semi slicks , and multi spokes with semis. Will keep the OZf1's with rainsports.

Ive ended up with my old trailer back in a deal with Stu , as the clubman was just a bit too tight for going through my garage door with 20mm clearance , through that deal ive now got the rest of the phase 1 return fuel system parts I need and another complete phase 1 loom that Im going to cut back and re wrap to remove all the unused parts then look at switching it out over winter when hopefully the turbo engine will go in.

Ive also been looking to track insurance as I want to track the R8 at some point this summer, Ive just ordered a stainless exhaust for that which will probably be the last change I will make to it.

Had the car out on track last week and had a bit of a knocking noise coming from under the car so need to look into that.
Also spun and collecting a cone adding a small dent to the back 1/4 so need to nick that out.
The pic above was stole from Stu who I sold the car to a few years ago he wanted a pic of his old and new cars together. Have to say I was really impressed with his M3 our on track.

Yip think the cone started up half way up duffel it just took a side swipe by my corner , wasn't till i went back out with Stu I noticed it was still lying on track.

Well with work , life and general lack of motivation I’ve missed most of the track season this year.
The car is now in storage while I move house but then need to decide what I’m doing with it.

1. Keep as is and use it next year for trackdays.
2. Turbo it over winter as a project ready for track next year.
3. Sell it as it is with the N/A engine that would be eligible for more race series.

Going for option 2 :) , was tempted to sell and buy a Trophy as a investment/track/weekend toy but I would miss the rawness of this thing out on track.

Hopefully by end of October I will be sorted in new house and have more garage space so the clio can come off the trailer and start to get worked on.

Ive started to add the rest of the bits required to install the turbo to my ebay basket lol , just need to speak to Chris at EFI now to see if the boost module will work with my planned spec.

Picked up these as well from CMC to tidy up the interior a little , they will be fitted again over winter when i hope to fit a trimmed down and re wrapped spare loom.

Bit of a plot twist :)

1422450959.jpg

In the last month Ive went from selling it , keeping it and plan to turbo , to buying my old bodies and Omex management back from Stu today.

When i first did the bodies and cams on the car it was fun out on track and more importantly reliable , as the engine in the car is timed to group N settings and I now have the tool for doing the belt changes it makes sense to leave the engine as is and fit the bodies to it.

With the bodies and my old cams the car made 210 bhp before going high comp , with standard cams it will hopefully do 190+ .

The bonus is standard almost throw away engines and shouldnt really have enough power to justify needing a diff for just doing track days.

That and really cant beat the noise of bodies which also makes trackdays more fun, unsure if i may re wire the car this time though as really only have the standard ecu/uch to run the dash and lights. The omex can be used to run the fuel pump and trigger the fans , so would only really need a basic loom for lights, horn, wipers and some form of clocks.

Also picked up button panel for the steering wheel, but might not use it now if I'm going to rewire the full car with custom switch panel
