I would swerve the Ns-2R, not a touch on the Yoko Ad08R. Wet grip is terrible on them, and dry not much better, they do nothing in the cold damp conditions, as i found out when the back end let go and sent me into the armco a couple of years ago.

Interesting, i daily drove on NS2Rs for 3 or 4 sets when i first had my Clio and was amazed at the level of wet weather performance from them.
Almost spooky how much grip they had as opposed to what i would have otherwise perceived a so called track tyre to have.

Superb tyres for the money in my experience. All I've personally found from AD08s is they're worse in the wet and wear faster in the dry.

I don't rate the NS2R's either, much prefer the PS3's on a day to day basis on a road based car. cracking all round performer and can pickup the ex ginetta ones on ebay for around 100 quid a set of 4. no brainer imo.

See chaps I've heard mixed reviews on them. Some say they are great and others disagree. I've found that my AD08R's dont inspire me now there getting close to the limit. And in all honesty, I dont drive it hard enough. I'm like miss daisy. I thought I'd try something different and I bought 4x brand new NS2R's this morning in street compound (180) for £234 delivered. I cant seem to find the yokos that cheap anymore. I'll give them a go and then make my mind up on them.

At least they still have a good looking tread pattern. Not as good as the AD08R's but still good looking! For the pics 😉

So as mentioned, i had decided on the NS-2R's for my next tyre choice. Ordered them with JJC through ebay and got 10% off so £234 delivered.

Will look into a suspension refresh before these are fitted so i'll be buying parts each week i think.

Insured the RB for another year too, Through Greenlight with all modifications declared.

I bought some bolts for the engine bay as i wasn't happy with the button head ones and i wanted to replace them with flange bolts. Bought all stainless steel ones apart from the alternator bolt, which is just a normal zinc plated one. Whistle my homemade bolt was fine, i wanted a proper bolt.

So i changed 6 PMS top mount bolts for new SS cap heads, Vibra Technics engine mount for SS cap heads, slam panel and wing/headlamp bolts for SS flange heads

Got new Elf power steering fluid to replace my current stuff when i do my 172 cup PAS pipe

And lastly, i cleaned the RB and bought some wax after hearing/reading good reviews. Game up great so got some pics on the day and then the next day i took some better ones at a little location across town from home.

I can't stop looking at your photos!

One thing I'd note though, is those bolts you've changed to SS cap heads. They would have been high tensile bolts, probably 12.9. And whilst SS looks nicer it obviously isn't as strong. May be worth a consideration for vital components like suspension. Headlights and slam panel obviously doesn't matter.

I thought it was just hex head bolts that came in a 8.8 (alternator) but seen as that's no real strain I didnt think that one mattered.

As you said, the other ones are not as vital.

I don't think there is a standardised rule, so it's always worth checking. If they are high tensile they will more than likely have a marking on the top of the cap head. If they are sold as stainless steel then I would say they are more than likely not high tensile. Or not as strong as the ones PMS/Renault provide anyway.

When I've replaced any bolts on mine I've made sure to replace like for like with tensile strength, and if I coudln't find them I had my originals cleaned and coated.

The ones you have may well be fine, I'm just suggesting it may be worth double checking, and if they aren't HT then you may or may not decide to swap them. I'm sure many people have swapped out for SS items without issue it's just something my brain couldn't live with haha!

Just get some zinc plated ones. Go 10.9 tensile for anything you don't want to fall off. Try Kayfast1 on ebay mate.

They will be more than adequate mate. Not quite the yield strength of a 10.9 tensile steel hardware however more than up to the job of stopping your dampers falling off. That's the same stuff my wheel bolts are made from

Titanium for the most part won’t react with anything in terms of corrosion. The only issue you can have is galling and micro welding of the surfaces if you were to crank the hell out of them.

I always use Finish Line Ti Prep on Ti fasteners and have never had any issues at all.

The high tensile is not really the issue, it's more the corrosion with the alloy mounts. I thought the PMS omes was steel but they are not.

A2/A4 is the grade of stainless steel, short for 302/304 with 304 being classed as marine grade.
To be honest, all the lad on those mounts is not really on the hardware as all they really do is stop the dampers falling out when the wheels are unloaded. The stainless ones would have been fine id have thought anyway.

Thanks mate. We all know the 2118s work in many colour combos on the 1*2's but needs the right height and spacing for them to look better. Every now and again I think about changing the colour to anthracite as the white can be a pain to keep clean one regular basis due to being used daily, but then I see a few pics of it and think the white works so well and I talk myself out of it! This pic in particular (no real reason) makes me doubt any colour barring the current white.

Also, coming from you and how you are with the cup, that's a compliment, so thank you 👍

To me, I dont know why as I know all the imperfections, etc make it not show car condition. But I've always said that I want a clean, well maintained car with some tasty mods which I think I have. It's never going to be immaculate due to its daily use and only being my only car.

Slim's Details was doing one of those like, comment and share things on Facebook. I decided to take a punt as its free after all and i entered the draw.... and won!

This was the pic i uploaded for some cleaning products.

And what i won.

Was chuffed at that! Another thing i've done recently is dyed my steering wheel. Its too far gone to bring the colour back to life and i've been meaning to get it retrimmed but nearly 4 years on and it still hasn't happened! So i thought id cheat a tad and dye it as i got nothing to lose. Actually came out better than i thought!

And how it came out. I taped up the blue when doing the black first but some managed to creep into the left hand side of the blue. When i did the blue dye, i hoped it would cover but unfortunately not. Still, its loads better than it was prior to this!

After that, @rs 1an had a little gathering at he's unit in Witham so myself and @MrBlonde popped over. Ian was kind enough to let me have prime spot inside the unit too.

After we left, me and Steve got some quick snaps in the industrial area before going home.

I really like the last shot of the RB. Think it shows it sitting well there.

Another thing that i've been planning to do for ages is make some jacking beams. I did this years ago on my ph1 but they was welded on. This time i wanted to make them for the front (we all know the jacking points on these are made of cheese) but i wanted to make them removable should i need too. I used the existing holes that was in the sills too. I had some metal box section at work and i stone chip coated them with the leftovers from when i was doing some other bits at work. I bough the end plugs ages ago so make them look more complete and i bought some new stainless steel cap heads so they will not rust and look less obvious once fitted. I will colour code them with some RB paint i have, but will do this over the xmas period i think.

One day on the way to work, it was frosty but the sun was out. I had my little Fuji with me so i snapped away. These was taking literally just outside the farm, about 1 minute away but i think they came out decent.

Next job was to get the NS2R's fitted. I went to Tyre smart in Witham. Me and Steve @MrBlonde went there before and the service was good so decided to go there again. Not local as such (about 45 mins away from home) but much better than the local stuff of Kwik fit, Formula one, etc. I had the RB aligned while i was there too.

The RB recently hit 140k! Still got love for the old girl though.

The RB was dirty-ish during these pics but as of today, its done another 270 miles since so its rather dirty now. I will was it but probably not until after xmas.

When we purchased our flat there was nowhere allocated to park. (Prices here are a lot for not a lot, so we was limited to what we could buy with what we had saved and could borrow) We applied for a council garage and a year later, one has become available. Means now the RB has more secure parking. May not seem a lot to some, but i'm very happy about this!

Lastly, while browsing on here last night, i noticed that one of my wintery pics is on the top banner. That made me smile!
