Clio 182 ABS SERV ESP warning lights(Intermittent)...

  RB 182 FF
Hi chaps, I've had the warning lights come on but it's intermittent... I've done a search and not found a definite answer.

I've recently replaced all discs and pads but the lights were coming on before this, I hoped replacing the items would solve it but no such luck... I've checked the brake fluid level and that's all good, I had new driveshafts about a year ago so I presume the abs rings are good, could it just be a case cleaning the sensors to sort it? I've also had a recent genuine brake switch about a year ago and it's adjusted properly...

I don't have an obd reader to hand so hoping I can fix this issue myself as specialists are a fair drive for me to go to....

Any help is really appreciated, cheers.

Gaz.

Scan it with clip and find out what the fault is, to save firing the parts cannon at it mate.

Hi @Brigsy , I have no idea what clip is... I was wondering if anyone has had a case of just cleaning the sensors and sorting it? If that is the case I'll whip the wheels off and have a look, otherwise I won't bother... I have to say I've loved the 182 the whole time it's been in the family(8years), but it gets a bit wearing having a warning light virtually one after another after another.... ??

Can clip is the dealer diagnostic interface mate, you can get clone copys. Should be easy enough to fix with the right diagnosis. Find out whats chucking the light on, and prob need a new sensor fitting if one is faulty, or an abs ring may need replacing

Ah ok cheers for that. I'll have a go at cleaning the sensors and if there's no luck it'll have to be a diagnosis tool I guess... I was hoping people might have an answer regarding cleaning the sensors or something else but I guess it's possible to be many things...

I wouldnt even bother attempting to clean the sensors mate, the front ones will most likely break when removing anyway. Just get it scanned, find the issue and fix that job done.

So.... I've had abs, serv and esp on intermittent for a good while now, today I noticed a big built up of crud on my passenger front abs sensor... Using brake cleaner and a brush I got between the sensor and abs ring and cleaned all the crud off so the sensor is all clear of debris, now I have no abs serve esp for approx 5 mins then it triggers again... Does anyone know of this happens due to a fault code stored? Seems to happen the same amount of time each time the cars ignition is switched on... I believe the crud on the passenger side sensor could well be the issue, can a fault code eraser solve this does anyone know? Cheers.

Fault will clear if everything is working correctly. Sounds like a sensor / ring issue.

you’ll need to plug it in to rstuner, clip or a decent diagnostic software for it to show the code. Cheap Bluetooth ones can’t read abs / airbag.

I've had new rear discs and my drive shafts were replaced with new ktec ones about 2.5 years ago and the rings look good, so I'm guessing it's a sensor which is a bugger.... 😕 Cheers for clarifying that for me though.... 👍🏻

I've literally just been out and adjusted mine again! I bought a new oem Renault one a couple of years back as I had a fault with the old one... Only difference was it was esp and serv that came on then, not abs esp and serv... But I thought its worth a try as I've checked fluid level, all my abs rings are like new, I've cleaned all the sensors and now adjusted brake switch... So if it comes on again its almost certainly an abs sensor failed I would say... Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻
