Any detailers in kent???

  Insignia SRi
Iv just started getting into detailing the car properly and a couple of weeks ago my neighbour caught my rear bumper and scuffed it.

Was wondering if there was anybody fairly local to me (Kent) that fancied showing me how to use a machine polisher to best effect and help in trying to get as much of the scuff out as possible.

Let me know chaps :)

Alright mate.

Im no where near kent but have removed quiet a few scuffs! If you can't remove them i think you would be able to hide them pretty well...

If its gone through the clear cote this is what you are trying to acheive:

(courtousy of DW)

if you round the edges of the scuff it wont show up as bad! if your lucky you may even be able to cut the paint back a bit and remove it completely

You want to get a cutting pad with a medium abrashive/abrasive cutting compound (ssomething like menzerna intensive polish or power gloss) it will need quiet a few passes to get it looking well but just keep persevering.

Even though it looks s**te at first keep passing over it (being carfull not to get it too hot and damage the paint). If its not removed/looked better after 2-3 passes then start been REALLY careful! maybe step down to a weaker polish to refine it a little.

Depends on how bad the scuff is though as to get it perfect a bad scuff would need a respray :)

Luke.

Lol well if your not confident doing it im sure someone on here wouldn't mid helping you..

If you join up no DW and make yourself a thread asking for help you may get a bit more response than asking on here.

Id come if i were closer to give it a bash. Good luck anywho!
