Matthew's BMW Z4 (#2)

Hi guys,

Since I sold my previous Z4 a few years ago....

I've been after another. I really wanted a 3.0L this time and was so close to bagging one up in Scotland but just missed out.

Then this one popped up in my ideal spec 5 miles away. Not a 3.0L, it's the 2.0L like my last one but the Mrs will be driving it most of the time so it's not really a problem. The Blue and White combo is exactly what I was looking for.

2007 MSport Z4
80,000 miles
Full service history (last one was Inspection 2)
M Sport seats
Non-run flats all round (what a difference this makes!)
M Sport steering wheel
Parking sensors

I love it.

I had the previous one for a while and never got board of it. IMO they don't need a big engine as the majority of the driving is with the top down at 30 mph :)

Think it's about 160bhp the 2.0L and 7.something to 60mph.

It's not about the power, you're right. It's the sound/feel of the 3 litre. That's what I was referring to

Really bloody lovely looking z4, but I can't believe you went for the 2.0 again! The 3l brings them to life IMO.

But you have the best colour combo, so it's a cracking posing about town car

Do these have the 2.0 four pot? Or are they the 2.2 straight six out of the E46 320i's?

Love the colour of this! My stepdad has a black one with red leather, 3.0l version, and I just cant get over how weird it feels because of the 5m bonnet!

Is it a big job to get them done? Haven't got a receipt mentioning that they have.
No, but it's costly. Although that said, I work at a main dealer, changing a tyre is costly!
I'm sure you could find a good independent to do it for a decent price. Our Tech recommends a change of the guides and chain and an oil/filter. Then another oil and filter after 1000 miles. Because if it's still on it's original guides, there WILL be bits of them floating around in the oil.

  dan's cast offs.
did a bit of mileage in an alpina the other month and quite liked it for a bmw convertible, quite civilised compared to the m3 convertible scuttle shaking bag of crap!!

Is that Chi's? I thought he was selling it?

yup, was his. he's meant to be selling it but he's meant to be selling everything but rarely does  he taxed it as soon as i passed it back to him so think it's a keeper for the summer.

I've been using it more than her! I'm using it for my commute at the moment. Bloody great feeling leaving work in 20C and getting the roof down. Feel slightly smug sat amungst the standard 3 series' and A3s.

I've never understood the desire for a convertible unless you have a pair of tits. Not sure why, just not my cup of tea at all. Looks in great condition but not for me!

Because it's awesome driving roof down at night with the stars in the sky.

I really wish i'd had held out for a decent 3.0 Z4 when i was looking at the end of December. Ended up with a TT which I sold on at a massive lose 3 months later.

Looking at this thread is tempting me to have another look around for one.

I really don't understand people who say they feel like a 'bell end' when driving a convertible. What exactly is it that's so embarrassing? I don't get it. I think the Mk1 TT seems to have left a strange impact on people's perception of convertibles in general.

Anyway....

Tonight I swapped the manky aerial for something that looks a bit better. Not bad for a £3 eBay special :)

Next week the car is booked in at a BMW specialist in Leeds to give it a really good once over. Anything wrong and I'll be attempting to get it sorted under the warranty.
