Has anyone ever had an issue with the cam locking tool not fitting in Cat Cams by anychance?

Whilst I sorting the storm shell out I dragged the engine out to look at timing it up, but the D shaped locking tool wouldn’t slide into the slots on the catcams. Even if it took the cam out the head neither side of the locking tool would fit.

I didn’t try my luck by forcing it in, just wondered if anyone else has ever come across this?

I’ve got a genuine Renault locking kit.

Yes it’s a bit too tight. I had to take a fine file and take a little bit off the tool.

I was worried someone would say this ??‍♂️

I can’t believe the cams don’t suit the tool correctly.

Removed the front bumper and headlight blanks this morning as I wanted to drop the rad into the subframe as I’m paranoid it’ll get damaged laying around lol.

I’ve also given the fibreglass panels a good look over. It needs a new bonnet as that’s crack in a lot of places. The drivers door catches the wind really badly and the boot is cracking around the pop buttons, so will cross my fingers I can add aero catches instead.

Frustrating times ??‍♂️

Started laying out the brake lines for the storm.

I thought something was odd when I had these delivered so messaged @Nafoff who kindly gave some thought and advice.

Turns out there is a problem

So the front driveside hose (left side of the master) won’t screw into the master cylinder as it hits the chassis.

The passenger side front hose (right side of the master at the back) won’t go low enough to be behind the my heat shielding without rubbing or bending to much.

The rear brake line has a straight bulk head fitting and a straight fitting out the master cylinder causing it to sit right where the exhaust manifold will be.

This would be s**t with a OE manifold let alone a PMS manifold. All the straight fittings out the master cylinder need to 90 degree and 45 degree fittings. Which would fit perfectly like @Nafoff
Sorry for stealing your pic ? but it looks spot on.

And I have no bulk head fittings for the rear brake lines ??‍♂️
I’m gunna email Mitch and see what he’d like to do.

I need to properly catch up and read through your whole thread mate, but thought it was best to reply about the above - no worries on stealing the pic of course....

You would find things 100% easier with the angled fittings out of the master cylinder, I would for sure email or better still call Mitch about it, perhaps text or email him all the pics first and then talk him through it. He was very good with me on the phone (as previously said). All the best chap, hope you sort it.

Managed to drop the rear axle today. Need to now look at option on new bolts.

Fitted the PMS shifter as it was getting in the way in the garage and put my new seat in the car

Lowered the car down onto axle stands so I can work inside

Dug out the interior wiring loom and start putting it out to decide what I’m doing with it.

And I’ve been wanting to put this inside to see what it would look like for ages.

All I can see is I told you they’re s**t. Don’t think I’ve seen one kit the same as the next. And Mitch tried telling me it’s only me who’s had issues. Your about number 10
I'm with Nathan on this never seen 1 of the same kit. Also I'd you try telling mitch he doesn't like it and gives you problems.

We’re there any differences between the axles? One being a cup racer one?

I’ve not actually looked as the brake discs didn’t fall off, so I’m guessing it’s a standard beam rather than a separate hub bearing and normal disc like the cup racers ran

So my PMS rear beam is nearly on, just waiting on new bolts to mount it to the chassis and then can add the PMS shims, spacers, billet stub axles, twingo rear discs and new calipers.

I’m trying to get this shell rolling as soon as possible which made sense to remove the subframe next ??‍♂️

Can you still get your fingers in to adjust the shock dampening? This was my only worry with fitting this kit. Looks good!

Yeah just about. I thought about facing the shock the other way but seems fine. Tight but doable.

Rear beam is back on.

Fitted the PMS stub axle kit, couldn’t fit the calipers as need need bolts.

Anyone else fitted the kit? I just fired the kit on and thought afterwards there wasn’t the little spacer that sits behind the disc in the kit.
Do the twingo discs use the spacer or does the PMS stub not need one?

Anyway pics,

What sizes have you gone for on the rear?
Also are you using twingo rear discs for a reason, I’m very new to the Renault world of part swooping haha.

There the same dimension as the 172/182 discs but like Mark says the bearing is bigger so better reliability.

Nah they don’t have the spacer mate. We didn’t have any spacers on the ones that @nath&alex made for our cars.

@Jon-r87 twingo rear discs have a larger bearing, so you get better reliability. I could kill a pair of 1*2 rear wheel bearings on a trackday. Didn’t fancy that happening at the Nurburgring, so opted for a conversion.

Thanks Mark, I was hoping that was the case it’s all bolted up nicely lol.
